We are so proud of Aoife, Eva, Levi and Rory for their incredible achievement; securing a position in the final of the inter Forfar Education debating competition. Beating 8 other schools to the final and then pitting their wits against St Helen's Hillingdon, London to debate the motion: "If children ran the world, it would be a better place" required phenomenal levels of intelligence, maturity and a rigorous knowledge of current affairs and geo politics.

Despite the closeness of the competition, the judges declared St Helen's to be the winners. Our debating team were extremely gracious in defeat and we, as a school community, offer our congratulations to for successfully opposing the motion."

The plethora of fictional characters that pupils and staff dressed up as in celebration of World Book Day 2026 is testament to the voracious reading appetite of pupils and teachers at Brackenfield School!

Brackenfield School's Year 2 spent time with the residents of Manor House on World Book Day which perfectly illustrated how a love of books and reading transcends the generations!

Throwback to when the whole school gathered on the playground for the annual, ever popular and highly competitive Brackenfield inter house pancake races. In their house teams, with the support of some very enthusiastic Year 6 helpers, infant pupils ran, stirred and flipped at top speed. Then it was the turn of the juniors! The teams completed the course in record time and the victorious winners of the much coveted trophy was Brimham.

Events like these are a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to come together and demonstrate our school values, particularly kindness, perseverance and confidence.

We were delighted to welcome so many new pupils and their families to our recent Reception Discovery event. Combining with pupils already enrolled in Brackenfield's Nursery, starting Reception in September 2026, the children had a brilliant morning making lots of new friends, having fun with teachers and discovering the joy of Brackenfield school life.

Year 5 enjoyed a recent visit to the Royal Armouries Museum, the National Museum of Arms and Armour in Leeds. The purpose for this trip was to cement Year 5's topic based learning having studied classical civilisation. It was a day packed with historical significance! The pupils were fascinated by the many historical artifacts and memorabilia. They particularly enjoyed the interactive workshops, where they were transported to the world of Ancient Greeks to participate in warrior training and learn about Greek mythology!

As part of their Humanities studies, Year 4 have been learning about Judaism. To extend their learning, Year 4 were privileged to be welcomed to an orthodox synagogue in Harrogate.
