I think a lot of us get caught up in the same cycle.
Work. Pay the bills. Take a holiday when you can. Wait for the weekend. Repeat.
And you tell yourself that one day things will be different.

Maybe when the mortgage is paid.
Maybe when you retire.
Maybe when you've got more time.

But the older I get, the more I'm questioning whether I actually want to wait until then.

I'm starting to think more about what I want the next chapter of my life to look like.
And I'm not talking about giving everything up.
I'm talking about having more choice. More time. More freedom. More options
If the next five or ten years are going to pass anyway, I'd rather be doing something now that could give me more choices when I get there.

So I'm curious

I don’t have unlimited time.
I work full-time, so when I decided to build another income stream, I had to think carefully about the type of business I wanted to build.

I didn’t want something that depended on finding hundreds of customers every month.
That’s one of the reasons I chose a high-ticket model.

But high-ticket doesn’t mean easy money.
It still requires learning, investment, consistency and patience.
I’m building this alongside my job because I’m thinking about the next 5 to 10 years, not the next 5 to 10 weeks.
I’m not trying to escape my job tomorrow.
I’m trying to create another option for my future.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.

When I first started looking at building something online, so much of it was completely new to me.
Content. Marketing. Algorithms. Funnels. Sales.
And yes, sometimes I’ve felt completely out of my depth.

But I’ve realised I don’t need to learn everything at once.
I just need to keep learning the next thing.

At our age, we’re not starting from nothing either.
We’ve spent decades working, solving problems, adapting and learning.
Maybe we just need to start using some of that experience differently.

I used to think retirement was the point where you finally got your time back.
Work hard. Pay the bills. Keep going. Then one day, you retire and start enjoying the freedom you’ve earned.

At 57, I’m starting to think differently.
There are things I want to do while I’m still fit and able to enjoy them.
Travel more. Walk more. Spend more time with my family. Have more control over my time.

I’m not trying to retire tomorrow.
I’m building something alongside my job now because I want more choices before I reach that point.
The next 5 to 10 years are going to pass anyway.
I’d rather use them to create options than simply wait.

This isn’t about making a few quid online.

I’m building a real business alongside my full-time job.

That means learning new skills, getting uncomfortable, investing in myself and accepting that results take time.

I chose a high-ticket business model because I wanted something that could make sense around the hours I already work.

But it isn’t for everyone.

You don’t have to quit your job to start creating another option.

I haven’t.

My wage gives me security while I learn how to build something alongside it.

And I’m okay with that taking time.

I’m not looking for a shortcut.

I’m thinking about where I want to be 5 years from now and what I can start doing today to give that version of me more choices.

Maybe the question isn’t:

“How do I get out of my job?”

Maybe it’s:

“What can I start building something while I'm still earning "

More time.
More experiences.
More freedom to decide how I spend my weeks.

But those choices probably won’t just appear one day.

I need to start creating them now.

More time with family.
More time outdoors.
More opportunities to travel.
More control over what my weeks look like.
