Some of our children have been working with Sofia, our new Spelling to Communicate (S2C) Practitioner, developing their S2C skills.💙

S2C offers non-speaking and minimally speaking children another way to communicate and express themselves, and we’re already seeing some fantastic progress!🔠

Whatever the weather, there's always time for play at Earley Springs! 🤩

Our children love using our outdoor area, and we are fortunate to have lots of outdoor space, equipment and facilities for them to enjoy.

We're marking ADHD Awareness Month 💙

Every child experiences the world differently, and ADHD is no exception.

For children, ADHD might show up as:
✨ finding it difficult to stay focused on tasks
✨ needing to move or fidget to concentrate
✨ acting or speaking before they've had time to think
✨ finding changes and transitions tricky
✨ becoming deeply focused on things they're interested in
✨ experiencing big emotions or finding them difficult to regulate

At Earley Springs, we know that learning isn’t one-size-fits-all. Some of our pupils might need movement to help them focus, extra time to process information, clear routines or opportunities to follow their own interests. 🌱

Our job is to understand what works for each individual child, build on their strengths and create an environment where they can feel confident, supported and able to shine.✨

Creativity is a really important part of learning at Earley Springs. For some pupils with communication and interaction needs, creative activities can also provide a way to express themselves, regulate their emotions and release energy. 🎨💙

The curriculum across our three learning pathways values art and creativity, and our teachers incorporate creative ways to explore new topics and make learning fun and memorable.

Non-Speaking Awareness Day

Today we celebrated something that sits at the very heart of Earley Springs – every child has a voice, even when that voice isn’t spoken.

Our children communicate in many different ways. Some use speech, some use AAC, some spell to communicate, and some communicate through their actions, gestures, expressions and behaviour. No one way of communicating is more valuable than another.

At Earley Springs, we don’t just recognise these differences on an awareness day – we celebrate and support them every single day.

Not speaking does not mean not thinking! For us, inclusion means learning to listen in more than one way.
