This week, we went bug hunting in the wet weather, discovering lots of interesting creatures and learning about the natural world around us. When the sun came out, we made the most of it by creating sun pictures outdoors, enjoying some creative time in the warm weather. ☀️

It’s been wonderful to see the children embracing the changing weather and having fun while learning through nature-based activities. 🌿🐞🎨

Here’s a little catch-up from the past couple of weeks at Wild Sticks! We’ve been keeping very busy with lots of exciting activities, including planting, making Nordic bracelets, getting creative with arts and crafts,looking at nature and so much more.

The children have loved exploring new skills, working together, and expressing their creativity while enjoying the sunshine and outdoor activities. It has been wonderful to see everyone so engaged, confident, and happy.

With the success of our last cooking session with a different group, I wanted to share this delicious apple and pear crumble. Everyone enjoyed the hands-on experience of preparing and tasting it together. We even had bananas on the fire pit (special treat). We also spent time practicing our fire-lighting skills safely and responsibly.

Last week, the children enjoyed making apple crumble over the fire. 🍎🔥 They were involved in the preparation, helping to chop and mix the ingredients, and then had the opportunity to taste the finished result. It was wonderful to see them so engaged in the whole process—and even better, it turned out delicious! 😋 A fantastic hands-on experience that supported their confidence, teamwork, and enjoyment of cooking.

Yes, the children got a little messy—but that was all part of the fun! 😊 They had a fantastic time creating simple ‘cookie’ boats and then testing them during water play. It was wonderful to see their excitement as they explored, experimented, and learned through hands-on play. A great mix of creativity, curiosity, and lots of joyful moments!

It was so lovely to see some familiar faces again! The group had a fantastic time exploring Forest School, enjoying the freedom to discover and play in the outdoor environment. One of the highlights was creating their own ‘swords’ from natural materials—followed by lots of imaginative play and a very enthusiastic ‘charge!’ It was wonderful to see their creativity, confidence, and teamwork shine through.

We had a wonderful time making fruit kebabs! 🍓🍌 The children explored a variety of fruits while learning about healthy eating and making positive food choices. They were actively involved in preparing their snacks by carefully slicing and dicing the fruit, helping to build their independence and fine motor skills. It was a fun and tasty way to encourage healthy habits!

This week, we’ve been celebrating Easter with a range of fun and engaging activities. The children enjoyed creating their own Easter gifts and taking part in an exciting “chick hunt,” where hidden chicks each held a secret letter.

Working together, the children used their phonics knowledge and number recognition skills to match each letter to the correct line, helping them uncover the hidden word. This playful activity supported their learning in a meaningful way, encouraging problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence with sounds and numbers.
