The Lea Primary School and Nursery

The Lea Primary School and Nursery This page gives news and updates on The Lea Primary School and Nursery, Harpenden. The Lea is a warm and caring community where every child is valued.

Our school is an exciting and stimulating place to learn, where individual talents are nurtured and achievements celebrated. We have high expectations of all children in all aspects of school life. The ethos we aim to create is one of Learn, Enjoy, Achieve. The Lea School Association is the school's PTA and it is the PTA that updates this page rather than the school itself. This Facebook

page doesn't replace the way the school already keeps us up to date with school news, but it will be an additional means of letting us know the latest; reminders about events or alerts on Snow Closure Days, for example. The information we share on Facebook will be treated with the same careful consideration as the information we share on our website with e-safety being of utmost importance. You will need to be aware that the information we share in this way is aimed at parents, not children.

On Monday Year 1 had a fantastic morning at Batford Springs. They remembered how to be safe around water, knew which materials could go in the water and watched their boats float. They had a great time at the toilet stop 😄 and then we all had a lovely picnic together 😊

Y6 have certainly been keeping busy this week!
We've been putting our World Cup knowledge to good use by analysing real football data, calculating the mean, median, mode and range, as well as interpreting and presenting statistics.
Thanks to the wonderful Granny Mary, the children have also been developing their sewing skills by creating either a beautiful piece of bunting or an imaginative fairy or troll house.
As their time at primary school draws to a close, we've been taking the opportunity to look back on the memories we've made together. The children have been creating their own memory maps, filled with favourite moments, special events and photographs from their journey through The Lea.

What a fantastic start to the school day!
Our children arrived bright and early this morning to cheer on England as they took on Mexico in the World Cup. The hall was full of excitement, cheers and plenty of enthusiasm as everyone came together to support the Three Lions.
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces sharing the excitement of such a big sporting event together. 🎉⚽️

What a fantastic day we had yesterday as part of our Resilience Week!
We were delighted to welcome Mike from BMX Academy to school today. Our Year 5 and Year 6 pupils took part in balance and skill workshops, where they demonstrated incredible resilience, determination and perseverance as they challenged themselves to master new skills.
A huge thank you also goes to the generous loan of an air conditioning system, which meant the workshops could take place comfortably in the hall throughout the day.
The excitement didn't stop there! Mike then wowed our children with two spectacular tricks assemblies – first for KS1 and then for KS2. The children were amazed by the incredible stunts, and Mike shared inspiring messages about resilience, practice and never giving up.
There were plenty of gasps, cheers and smiles throughout the day, and it was wonderful to see our children embracing challenges and celebrating success.
Thank you, Mike, for an unforgettable day. A fantastic time was had by all!
