Today some children enjoyed forest school practicing their fine motor control as they focused on their hand eye coordination of hammering golf tees.

Some children followed on with our topic of road safety and practiced crossing the road safely- โ€œlook left, look right, no moving cars in sight, now itโ€™s safe to cross!โ€ ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿšฆ

We have started to learn about road safety this week.

We have painted traffic lights and learned a song about them.
We waited for our friends to stop at the zebra crossing and then showed our grown ups how to safely cross the road at home time.

By introducing these concepts in a fun, interactive way, we set the foundation for responsible behaviour around traffic, giving them skills that will benefit them for life.

Frog cycle ๐Ÿธ

We have been learning about frogs and tadpoles and the transition of the life cycle.

Have you heard our frog song? Itโ€™s very silly ๐Ÿคช

This half term we have been really focusing on childrens independence. Today the children peeled and chopped their own carrots for snack. Does your child help you at home prepare food? ๐Ÿ”ช๐Ÿฅ•

We explored Fusionโ€™s eco pond and looked for frog spawn ๐Ÿธ as it transitions to tadpoles a bit like our caterpillars are going to transition into butterflies soon! ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿฆ‹

Exploring childrens gross motor skill by reaching up tall in vertical lines to mark make. vertical mark-making help children strengthen shoulder and arm muscles which later supports children writing and supports their fine motor skills.

The children have been independently sharing their home books with friends discussing what they can see and their home experiences. Weโ€™re encouraging children to ask others questions to start a discussion such as โ€˜I have 1 sister, how many do you have?โ€™ ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“–

We have all had lots of fun playing in the rain today. We have splashed in the puddles, ridden the scooters and collected lots of rain drops.

Playing outside in the wet weather helps:

- build up our strength and balance as we run and walk on wet and muddy ground.
- makes us resilient and adaptable as we adapt to the changing conditions and persevere despite being wet.

We had a wonderful first day back yesterday. Lots of time was spent outside playing with the water and on the scooters and bikes. We worked on our fine motor skills drawing with crayons and using pipettes to move coloured water around.

What a muddy and wet forest school but one of our favourite. The determination and core strength from the children as they climbed up the muddy hills was commendable as they cheered their peers on.

We didnโ€™t let the rain stop us having fun at Forest School today. We read Room on the Broom and then made potions with blossom and witches brooms from twigs. We then realised if we turned our brooms around they could become fishing rods, so we then did some fishing. All of these activities have used lots of our imaginative play.
