I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Thank you to all Parent/Carers for their questions and messages in the last couple of days.

We are gradually making our way through them.

Thank you for your patience as we do.

We’ve been otherwise spending time as a family at FolkEast festival this weekend!

Home time today.

🧪 GCSE Science Results 🧪

The results are in.

And we are super proud of the progress all students have made!

We are affording our families time to celebrate these outcomes. This is very important to us.

We will celebrate them in a week or so.

Above all though: we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements 😊☀️

We have been a little quieter this week than usual.

Apologies to the wonderful community of tutors. I haven’t had the signal to like, comment and share as is the norm.

Each week, we like to bring you a tutor who we have collaborated and supported for many months.

This week, we would like to introduce to you to Mel at MJ Maths Tuition.

Mel is a highly experienced practitioner who offers support with Maths, including:
✅ GCSE.
✅ IGCSE.
✅ A-Level.

This includes both 1-1 and small group tuition!

📓 What We’re Working On 📓
IGCSE Double Science

We’ve had the pleasure of supporting a family who had recently identified gaps in Chemistry for their child having been a mid-term admission at school during Year 9.

In recent lessons, we have focused upon properties of ionic substances.

The initial lessons began by assessing and teaching:
⭐️ How to identify an ionic bond.
⭐️ Describing the formation of ions in an ionic compound.

Once secure, we moved on to consider:
⭐️ The properties of giant ionic lattices.
⭐️ Why ionic lattices can only conduct when molten.

By the end of the lesson, student could:
✅ Use the subject knowledge to structure responses to explain question command words versus the number of marks available.

Super progress made. To be super proud of too! 🥳

In fact, we like data so much that we have converted the total raw scores for ALL exam boards into percentages.

Hope it proves useful!

As a rule of thumb, if you child is 2-3% away from a grade boundary, it may be worth a conversation with the school for a remark of paper(s).
