A Message from Our Chair š
As another school year comes to an end, I just wanted to take a moment to say something to all of our amazing families.
The summer holidays can bring so much joy, but for many families of children with additional needs, they can also bring exhaustion, uncertainty, and a lot of pressure. The routines that help our children feel safe disappear overnight, support services pause, and suddenly weāre expected to fill six weeks with activities that often arenāt accessible or suitable for our children.
Then thereās social media. Itās so easy to scroll through photos of perfect days out, expensive holidays, and children doing things our own children may never be able to do. That comparison can be incredibly painful.
Please remember this: what you see online is only a tiny snapshot of someone elseās life. It is not a measure of your success as a parent.
If your summer looks different, thatās okay.
If your child is happiest at home, thatās okay.
If simply getting through the day is the biggest achievement, thatās okay too.
Your child doesnāt need a perfect summer. They need youāyour love, your patience, your understanding, and the safe place youāve worked so hard to create.
As a PTA, we see the incredible strength, resilience and love that our families show every single day. You are doing far more than you probably give yourself credit for.
So this summer, be kind to yourself. Celebrate the small victories. Ignore the comparisons. Make memories in whatever way works for your family.
From all of us at the PTA, thank you for everything you do. We hope you have a summer filled with moments of peace, laughter, and loveāhowever that looks for you.
Youāve got this. ā¤ļø
