🎸 Rocksteady is coming to Milwards! 🎶

We’re really excited that children at Milwards will have the opportunity to take part in in-school rock and pop band lessons with Rocksteady Music School.

Children can learn to play an instrument, be part of their own band and enjoy making music together — all during the school day.

If your child would like to get involved, you can find out more and check available places at rocksteadymusicschool.com.

We can’t wait to hear our Milwards musicians rocking out! 🎤🥁🎸

- I'm bored
- how many days left of school
- I don't like sun cream
- can I have an ice cream
- do I have to wear a hat
- are we there yet
- can we go on holiday
- where's the snacks at
- what are we doing tomorrow
- when does school start
- I'm not tired
- 5 more minutes
- can we have a water fight
- can we go to the park
- there's nothing to eat
- it's too hot

Spending time outdoors can play an important role in children’s wellbeing, learning, confidence and development.

However, busy routines, safety concerns and limited access to outdoor space can make it harder for families, schools and carers to prioritise time in nature.

Our latest guide shares simple, practical ideas to help children reconnect with the natural world, including:
• Noticing wildlife during everyday routines
• Taking familiar activities outside
• Creating mini adventures
• Growing plants or building nature at home
• Using technology to identify birdsong, insects and wildlife
• Supporting older children with independence and sensible risk-taking

With realistic ideas for all ages, the guide helps make outdoor time feel accessible, enjoyable and worthwhile.

✨ Four incredible people. Four very different journeys. One enormous thank you. 💙

As another school year comes to an end, we’re saying goodbye to four very special members of the Milwards family.

💐 Mrs Denton begins a well-deserved retirement after years of care, patience and kindness that have made a lasting difference to so many children. A calm, friendly face that children and colleagues could always rely on, she has helped make Milwards the special place it is today. We hope retirement brings plenty of time to relax—you’ve certainly earned it!

🌼 Mrs Downes also heads off into retirement, taking with her a lifetime of experience, wisdom and an uncanny ability to spot a spelling mistake from across the room! Her dedication to our children, her wonderfully high standards and her unwavering support for colleagues have left an incredible legacy.

🌊 Miss Elwes-Varma is swapping classrooms for the seaside as she begins an exciting new chapter in Dorset. Her creativity, warmth and wonderfully quirky personality have brought so much joy to our school, and we know she’ll be just as loved in her new school.

🎉 Mr Smith is off to an exciting new role following his promotion to Assistant Headteacher. His passion, commitment and belief in every child have inspired both pupils and staff alike. While we’re incredibly proud of him, we’re still pretending we’re not talking to him for leaving us! 😉

Between them, they have supported thousands of children, celebrated countless achievements and helped shape Milwards into the special place it is today. Schools are just buildings—it is people like these who fill them with kindness, laughter and memories that last a lifetime.

Thank you for everything you’ve given to our children, families and staff. Each of you has left your own unique mark on Milwards, and you’ll always be part of our story.

We wish you every happiness in your next adventure. You’ll be missed more than you know. ❤️

(Although if any of you suddenly fancy covering a staff absence in November… you know where we are! 😄)
