"maybe in another life i'd rebuild everything from absolute zero after divorce.

actually no. i'm doing it in this one."

but here's what that actually looked like from the inside.

it wasn't a decision. it wasn't a mindset shift. it wasn't time.

it was a tired tuesday.

i was so exhausted by the why question - why did he do this, why wasn't i enough, why didn't i see it coming - that i changed it.

not because i had the answer.

because i finally accepted it wasn't coming.

why did this happen to me became what can i do now.

that one shift handed me my power back.

not because the pain stopped.

because i finally stopped looking backwards for something that was never going to be there.

and started building something forwards instead.

seven years later. single parenting three kids. a business built from nothing. qualifications i never thought i'd have. a mystery holiday next week where i genuinely don't know where i'm going until i get to the airport.

because that's what happens when your nervous system finally learns that uncertainty doesn't mean danger anymore.

it all started with one question swap on a tired tuesday.

yours is waiting for you too.

so yesterday's reel got to a lot of you this week.

and i get it.

because those twelve things aren't small.

and you want them SO BADLY.

they feel enormous when you're on the wrong side of them.

sleeping through the night. making a decision and leaving it there. waking up and it not being the first thing. stopping the checking without even deciding to.

they feel like things that happen to other women.

women whose divorces were cleaner. whose nervous systems weren't wrecked. who had more to start with.

they're not.

they're just on the other side of giving your nervous system what it actually needs.

not willpower. not time. not deciding to be better.

the right signal. at a body level. applied consistently.

the physiological sigh before bed.
the small decision said out loud.
the hand on the chest when the urge to check hits.
the three things that belong to your future not your past.

small. boring. consistent.

that's the whole map.

okay so that reel i posted yesterday got me.

because i said every single one of those things.

with a completely straight face.

to my friends. my family. my kids' teachers. anyone who asked.

and the thing i know now that i didn't know then?

none of it was weakness.

every single lie made complete sense.

the "i'm really good" - because my nervous system learned other people's comfort came first.

the googling at 11pm - because my brain was still gathering information to feel safe.

the "sleep? yeah loads" - because my nervous system was running a night shift whether i wanted it to or not.

the "i don't need help i'm handling it" - because somewhere along the way i learned that needing help wasn't allowed.

none of these are character flaws.

every single one is a nervous system pattern built to survive something hard.

and every single one has a way through.

not through willpower.

not through deciding to just stop.

through giving your nervous system what it actually needs.

the audacity of me saying every single one of these with a completely straight face. πŸ˜‡

honestly the oscar goes to every divorced woman who has ever held it together in public and then gone home and done a full forensic investigation into his last seen at 11.43pm.

we are all performing fine.

some of us are better at it than others.

but here's the thing nobody tells you.

performing fine and actually being fine are two completely different things.

and your nervous system knows the difference even when everyone else doesn't.

the "i'm actually really good" while running on no sleep, zero appetite and a group chat that's carrying you through.

the "i don't even think about him anymore" said at 11pm while thinking about him.

the "i don't need any help i'm handling it" while quietly drowning.

sound familiar?

you don't have to keep performing fine.

if you recognised yourself in that reel this week - this one's for you.

because none of those things are personality traits.

the WhatsApp forensics. the "i'm fine" performance. the unmade decision. the 94 unlistened podcasts. the tuesday breakthrough thursday spiral. the mental folder.

every single one of them has a nervous system explanation.

every single one of them was built to keep you safe.

the forensic investigation? your nervous system is still running a threat assessment. it learned that monitoring kept you safe. so it keeps monitoring.

the "i'm fine" performance? your nervous system learned that showing pain wasn't safe. so now it hides automatically. before you've even decided to.

the mental folder of every time he was wrong? your brain is building a case. not out of bitterness. out of a need to prove you're okay. that you're worthy. that good things are still possible for you.

none of this is who you are.

it's what your nervous system built to survive.

and the work isn't stopping these things through willpower.

it's giving your nervous system what it actually needs.

the right signal. at a body level.

that's what actually shifts it.

Hundreds of women.

Different stories.
Different marriages.
Different levels of devastation.

But π—³π—Άπ˜ƒπ—² things kept showing up.

Every single time.

The woman still asking why - still stuck.

The woman who felt it in her body before she could name it - moving.

The woman collecting tiny evidence of her own capability - building self-trust back one decision at a time.

The woman who stopped trying to manage him and started managing herself instead - finally free of the coparenting dread.

The woman who let a good day be good without waiting for it to be taken away - healing.

None of these women were exceptional.

None of them had easier circumstances.

They just found the right work for their specific block.

And they did that.

I've spent seven years watching this happen.

I know exactly what moves women forward after divorce.

And I know exactly what keeps them stuck.
