Tyne Class have settled in well this week. Friday morning, Elsa had frozen all our flowers, so we had to defrost them. The children thought of different ideas to do this, including using the heat from our hands, the sun (if it stopped raining) and a magnifying glass to make it even hotter and using hot water. They then worked together to fetch hot water and successfully melted the ice to free the flowers. Good job Tyne Class.

Thames class are off to a flying start! We have had a lovely start to the year. We have adapted to new routines brilliantly, we have been learning what Maths and English looks like in Year 1/2 and have been thinking about roles within our school. Children who wanted to pitched to their peers about why they thought they would make good school councillors, eco councillors or PE leads. We can’t wait to find who will be representing our class!

As part of our work in maths on Roman numerals, Nile class have been using lolly pop sticks to create their own Roman numeral for their peers to work out. We were trying to recognise numbers to 1,000. We learnt that we can condense numbers to make them easier to read, rather than make them too complicated. We then consolidated our learning independently by completing activities in our books.
