Ypres Visit Update

Following the advice received throughout the weekend and today, and after continuing to review this in line with our risk assessment, we can confirm that the Ypres trip will be going ahead as planned.

The safety and wellbeing of our students and staff is taken extremely seriously. We have worked carefully over the weekend with our partners and advisers to ensure that the risks have been appropriately assessed before reaching this decision.

Please see the email sent to families for the full update and further information.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow morning and wish our students and staff a safe and enjoyable trip.

Mr. Appleford.

Our second week of fixtures has been another fantastic one for The Ramsey Academy students, with excellent performances, determination, and pride on display across all year groups.

We started the week strongly with our Year 10 Girls' Netball Team, who travelled to Alec Hunter Academy for a tournament. The girls performed brilliantly throughout the day, losing just one match and representing the school exceptionally well.

On Thursday, our Year 9 Girls' Netball Team took part in their own tournament and also impressed with their teamwork, effort, and attitude. Congratulations to all the girls involved. Mrs Duhig was extremely proud of every player and the way they represented The Ramsey Academy.

Wednesday saw our Year 7 football team pull on the Ramsey shirt for the very first time. Facing some difficult opposition, the boys never gave up, showing tremendous resilience and demonstrating our Ramsey Academy values throughout. They continued battling until the final whistle and should be proud of their efforts.

Tuesday brought two football fixtures. Our Year 8 team travelled to Honywood School, while our Year 10 team welcomed Alec Hunter Academy in the County Cup. Despite a depleted squad and several players carrying knocks, the Year 8 team continued to compete well and managed to get on the scoresheet with a couple of goals. Meanwhile, the Year 10s produced a dominant display from the first whistle to the last, securing an outstanding 7-0 victory and booking their place in the next round of the County Cup.

Finally, on Monday, our Year 11 team kicked off their final season in The Ramsey Academy colours with a County Cup tie against Beaulieu Park School. The boys delivered an excellent performance, seeing off the opposition comfortably and progressing to the next round, where they will face CCH.

A huge congratulations to all of our students who have represented the school this week. Your commitment, attitude, and sportsmanship continue to make The Ramsey Academy proud. We look forward to seeing more success in the weeks ahead! πŸ†βš½πŸπŸ’›πŸ–€

Year 10 have been exploring the science behind potatoes in Food Technology!

As part of their food science studies, students investigated enzymic browning and dextrinisation while developing their practical cooking skills. They demonstrated a range of techniques by preparing delicious rosti and dauphinoise potatoes, gaining a greater understanding of how science and skill work together in the kitchen.

Fantastic work from everyone involved!

Year 8 Gets Creative in the Kitchen!

Our Year 8 students have been developing their food preparation skills by making delicious pasta salads. From practising safe knife techniques to carefully selecting and combining ingredients, students demonstrated excellent creativity and independence throughout the lesson.

The finished dishes looked fantastic and showcased a range of flavours, colours and healthy ingredients. Well done, Year 8!

First Week of Fixtures: A Strong Start to the Season

We have completed our first week of fixtures for the 2026/27 season, and it has been an exciting start to the year for our football teams.

Our Year 9 and Year 10 teams opened the season in excellent fashion with convincing victories, showing great teamwork, determination, and quality on the pitch. The performances from both squads have set a positive tone for the weeks ahead.

Unfortunately, it was a more challenging outing for our Year 8 team, who faced tough opposition and were knocked out of the cup in the first round. While the result was disappointing, the players showed great effort and resilience, and we are confident they will bounce back stronger in their upcoming fixtures.

Attention now turns to next week's matches, with plenty more action to come. We are also looking forward to seeing our Year 7 team take to the field for the first time this season as they begin their journey representing the school.

Finally, this season marks the last for our Year 11 students, and we are excited to see them lead by example as they embark on their final year of school sport with us.
We wish all of our teams the very best of luck for the fixtures ahead and thank staff, parents, and supporters for their continued encouragement.

- Mr Farrelly
