šŸ”¢Maths Practice and Minions Cupcakes🧁

Eleanor (my youngest) asked if we could do some Maths practice this morning, so we spent a bit of time recapping addition and subtraction. A little bit of Maths over the holidays really helps limit ā€œThe Slideā€ and keeps everything fresh. She did brilliantly — especially once we got the base ten out to help with the trickier questions. Love seeing her confidence grow. šŸ’›

Meanwhile, Grace (my eldest) has been baking again and surprised Eleanor with the cutest Minion‑inspired cupcakes ready for her birthday on Thursday. She’s done such a great job — they look amazing and Eleanor was absolutely thrilled. Apparently Palaloolali means Happy Birthday in Minionese… who knew šŸ˜‚!

Feeling very proud of both my girls todayšŸ«¶šŸ‘

A Big Task Off My List āœ…

A big admin win today… I’ve officially completed my self‑assessment tax return 😊. It’s one of those tasks that doesn’t look huge from the outside, but for me it was a big one — especially doing it for the first time. Now it’s off the list and I can shift my energy back to planning for September. Feeling lighter already.šŸ¦‰

A little break in North Yorkshire has left me feeling recharged and full of ideas.
We stayed in a peaceful lodge and explored Ripon, Brimham Rocks and Knaresborough — so many beautiful places and views.
Now I’m excited to redecorate my tutor room next week (goodbye grey, hello green!) and get everything ready for my final week of summer tutoring.
Looking forward to seeing my students again soon. šŸ¦‰

šŸŽ² Holiday Monopoly Fun — and Plenty of Maths Magic!šŸŽ©

We spent the afternoon playing Monopoly today, and it reminded me just how many brilliant opportunities for real‑life maths the game provides.
From counting out money to working out change, adding up rents, and budgeting for those big purchases, there’s maths woven into every turn.

My girls loved choosing whether to save their money for a favourite property or spend it straight away — perfect for practising decision‑making and understanding value.
There was lots of mental addition, quick subtraction, and even a bit of multiplication when houses and hotels started popping up.

It’s such a fun, relaxed way to build confidence with numbers while enjoying family time.

🌿 Two Weeks to Pause, Refresh & Reset 🌿

I’m taking a two‑week break from tutoring to rest and reset. Next week I’m off to North Yorkshire with my family and Arthur for walks, views and plenty of relaxing.

When I’m back, my tutor room is getting a full refresh — goodbye grey, hello green. I’ll share photos as I repaint and rearrange the space, ready for my final week of summer sessions. I can’t wait for my students to see it.

Tricky words made fun today. We used letter tiles to build and rebuild words, spotting the parts that don’t match the sound. My student realised that ā€œforwardsā€ isn’t ā€œforwoodsā€ — and she was so proud when she found the tricky bit and fixed it herself. Fantastic problem‑solving and super spelling.

šŸ¦‰ International Owl Awareness DayšŸ¦‰

Today celebrates one of my favourite creatures - the wise, gentle owl. I’ve always loved how owls symbolise knowledge, calm, and curiosity - qualities that inspire every learning moment at Page to Success Tutoring.

When I designed my logo, I chose an owl because it represents exactly what I aim to nurture in my students: confidence, insight, and a love of learning.

Here’s to these beautiful birds that remind us to keep exploring, keep learning, and keep looking at the world with wonder. šŸ’š

My daughter Grace loves to bake and decided she wanted to make a Victoria Sponge for her first attempt at baking a cake by herself.
She used the Thank You Jam I received from a student as part of the filling to go with the buttercream.

I think she did an amazing job for her first attempt well done Grace šŸ«¶šŸ»
I cant wait to try a slice šŸ˜‹
