This week we welcomed our new cohort of trainee teachers for their onboarding day.

It was wonderful to see the group engaging in lots of inspiring conversations about education, sharing their motivations and goals for the year ahead.

Lots of positive relationships forming already and the trainees left buzzing to start their teacher training journey in September.

There’s still time to join our AA Teamworks family as part of the 2026-27 cohort, so if you’re considering a career in teaching, we’d love to hear from you.

Finishing your ITT year is an exciting time. It's a recognition of all you have learnt and mastered this year. It's also when you start looking forward to September and having your own classes!

Our final session at AA Teamworks West Yorkshire SCITT looks at your ECT year and wellbeing. There can be negativity in the press about the teaching profession and workload. Yet, there are also lots of people thriving and immersed in a career they really care about.

We want our trainees to learn from experts who know the challenges teaching involves, and successfully navigate these in roles they love and flourish in.

That's why we finish our year with you - looking at what good practices, tips and strategies you can take with you into your own classroom.

On Thank A Teacher Day, we’re proud to share this wonderful message recognising one of our SCITT trainees.

What a great reminder of the impact trainee teachers can have from the very start of their journey, when supported by excellent mentoring and strong school partnerships.

We’re incredibly proud of all our trainees as they develop into confident and inspiring teachers.

Today is National Thank a Teacher Day, and we are celebrating the incredible difference that teachers make every day.

As a proud partner of AA Teamworks West Yorkshire SCITT, we are privileged to support trainee teachers as they embark on their teaching careers. From day one, they bring enthusiasm, dedication, and a genuine commitment to helping children thrive.

This heartfelt message to Miss Rogers, one of our trainee teachers, perfectly captures the impact that teachers have beyond the classroom:

At the heart of great teaching is more than academic success – it is the nurture, care, encouragement and relationships that help children feel valued, supported and confident. Messages like this remind us just how important that role is.

Thank you to Miss Rogers, all our teachers and all those working in education for the difference you make every single day. 💕

Last week marked our final centre-based training session for this year (sniff!). Our cohort started thinking about their ECT year and targets for September.

The session was led by one of our expert teachers, Dan Teasdale from The Mirfield Free Grammar who shared his knowledge of the year, as the Initial Teacher Training Lead.

We looked at how much support there is for teachers now, in their early-career stage. Just because you have qualified teacher status, you still get a dedicated mentor and a full package of professional development to help you every step along the way.

The trainees took time to reflect on their strengths from this year, as well as what they want to work on next - to set targets for next academic year. They also thought about what aspects of the Teacher’s Standards they have developed a strong interest in - and where this might take them. We definitely have some future leaders in teaching & learning, pastoral and SENCOs.

We can’t wait to see what our trainees go on to achieve in their ECT year in their new schools!

Congratulations to the Class of 2026! 🎓

This week our SCITT trainees completed their final weekly group training session at the Training Centre.

To mark the occasion, they came together for a spot of lunch and to celebrate everything they have achieved throughout their training year, from developing confident and reflective teaching practice to building strong friendships and professional networks that will last long beyond their SCITT journey.

We are are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished during their year with us. Although their training programme is coming to an end, they will alway remain part of the AA Teamworks community, and our team will continue to support them as alumni throughout their teaching careers.

Congratulations once again to the Class of 2026. We are so proud of you! ✨

Our fabulous team had a busy day at The UK Careers Fair in Huddersfield.

Lots of great conversations about our school-based programme, which offers extensive classroom experience so that trainees are fully immersed in school life from the start, while gaining the same qualified teacher status (QTS) as university-based routes.

Do you know the difference between Castle Hill and Victoria Tower? 👀

Monday sessions at AA Teamworks SCITT mean working together to develop your practice. This week our trainees assessed each other’s knowledge of Huddersfield using high-quality strategies.

We love seeing how much fun our trainees have while learning together. And we’re so proud of how ready they are to lead their own classes next year. 🧑‍🏫
