A Huge Thank You

Following our recent Ofsted success, the team came together on Saturday to celebrate this fantastic achievement.

We would like to say a very big thank you to a wonderfully generous parent whose kindness helped make the celebration so special. All of the staff had an amazing time, and fun was had by all.

In the baby room we have introduced a registration station. This is a mug tree that babies add their photo on each day they are in nursery. Each baby are shown two photos, one being themselves and another their friend. They are encouraged to look closely at the photo and encouraged to try and recognise themself. Then they hook it on to the tree to acknowledge they are in nursery that day. This is helping develop fine motor skills, hand and eye co-ordination as well as recognition of them self and their peers.

Today the children in preschool have enjoyed a relaxing day. They have been role-playing beauty salons, they have placed a face mask tablet into a tub of water so it expands into a mask. They then had their nails painted by a practitoner. Then this afternoon they have made their own squishies to relax them and they have also made themself a apple crumble as a treat. Having a relaxed day every now and then is very rewarding for children as it benefits their body by releasing endorphins, it clears their mind and strengthen their emotional wellbeing.

This morning in preschool the children have helped to make their own juice. Juicing their own oranges works the muscles all the way from your child’s shoulder to their fingers which is essential for excellent writing, as you must develop these muscles first. Help your child cut the fruit - this is an opportunity to talk about halves and quarters, developing early maths skills.

The babies have been exploring making movements in flour this morning. They have been using different utensils and toys from around the room to do this. This activity has helped promote hand and eye co-ordination, fine and gross motor movements. They have also been turn taking, sharing as well as lots of communicating. This afternoon in preschool the children have enjoyed exploring the hands on paint activity, we placed paper across the table, added paint and shaving foam and covered it with cling film. One of the children said "it's like I can feel it".
This activity is a good idea because it's:
*100% Mess-Free Exploration: Children can squash, smear, and blend vibrant paint colours with their fingers entirely through the plastic barrier, keeping hands, clothes, and furniture perfectly clean.
*Stimulating Sensory Play: It provides a rich tactile experience. Children feel the squishiness of the paint and the ridges of the plastic, which stimulates curiosity and fine motor skills.
*Focus on Process Over Product: Without the frustration of sticky hands or accidental smearing, young children can fully focus on colour mixing (e.g., watching blue and yellow turn to green) and cause-and-effect learning.

Last week preschool used some toilet rolls to stamp bubble circles on paper. We mixed the paint with a little water and dish soap. The children became very involved and their excitement grew as they discovered through trial and error that they could actually blow big bubbles through the tubes. What started as an art project quickly turned into discovering something new and fun.

The babies have enjoyed a variety of activities throughout this week. They have been using fine and gross motor skills. Walking around the garden with adults and making movements in the messy play activities. They have been mixing, pouring and scooping up the water and shaving foam, as well as playing independently and along side their peers.

The toddlers have enjoyed spending a lot of time outside!

We have enjoyed playing in the outdoor classroom, on the meadow and in the toddler garden!

Outside we have been:
🍂 Making up our own stories and re-inacting things we have seen at home.
🍂Sharing and taking turns with others.
🍂Communicating their wants and needs with friends ans resolving conflict between each other.
🍂Balancing, Running, Kicking, Stacking.
🍂We have been riding bikes and balancing on them.
🍂Mark making with chalk, creating big marks.
🍂Being involved as a group and voicing their ideas.

The children have also been helping getting themselves ready to go in the garden, helping to put their wellies, coats, wetsuits and shoes on when going outside.

Our babies have explored mixing the colours red, orange and green into the cornflour using brushes, and other one handled tools. They have used their hands and let the cornflour run through their fingers. They enjoyed watching Clair holding her hand up high and letting it drip onto their hands. The babies explored this activity for a long period of time.
