This morning in the toddler's we have been scooping ice cream. We planned this activity to extend the children's interests, since the sunny weather has come out the toddler's have enjoyed playing ice cream shops and pretending to sell icecreams to each other.🍦

With this activity the children are developing:
🍨Their imagination and creativity by role playing.
🍨Social skills as they communicate with their peers.
🍨Colour recognition, naming the colours and mixing them together to create new ones.
🍨Early speech and language as they learn new vocabulary.
🍨Physically as they work on their fine motor skills by scooping the ice cream onto the cones, this will help them to independently serve their own food at meal times.

Kixx of Halifax!⚽️

We are so lucky to have parents like ours! We would like to thank all of our parents that nominated our nursery to win the Kixx competition on Facebook! We came second which enabled us to have 2 sessions with Coach Miles!

The children thrived from this experience. They all participated amazingly and I think we might have a few future footballers on our hands!

The children communicated, listened and engaged with Coach Miles and enjoyed the physical side of moving their bodies and using lots of different skills. They followed all the instructions given to them and all children enjoyed the sessions!

The babies have been bending down behind the unit then jumping up saying "peekaboo" whilst laughing at their friends. For our creative activity planned today we have hidden paint covered by shaving foam ready for the children to use the paint brushes and one handed tools to make marks using small and large motor skills. When the colours were uncovered we then mixed the colours together creating new colours. The activity has fit in nicely with their interest that they have shown today.

Over this week in the baby room, the babies have been exploring with paint dipping string and then adding it to card to make butterfly prints, we have also been using different movements with car wheels and balls to see what would happen. These activities have helped develop their fine motor skills and hand-eye co-ordination alongside interacting with others. We have been talking about the colour of the paint and the movements we have been making with the cars and balls. We have also been using number language, by counting the wheels on the car.

This morning in the baby room the babies have been exploring using jelly. They have been feeling the texture and using different tools to manipulate the jelly. We have been using a range of words, such as colour, smell, feel and texture, also singing songs like "jelly on a pate". We have also been using number words such as 123 and let's cut the jelly in half.

The babies have had fun this week playing in the garden using the soft play using their gross motor skills to climb, jump and negotiate turn taking. They have explored the water tuff tray with fruit in it, smelling the differences, sweet and sour, they used the tweezers to place the fruit in pots, squeezing them watching the juice come out. They were transporting the soil from the mud kitchen to the water mixing it. In the babyroom they have had lot's of sensory play in the cornflour mixing it making marks, they have played with playdough, rolling in, using cutters and manipulating it to make balls, counting them from 1-5.
