One of our football activities from today in support of England at the World Cup🏴
The children highly engaged with this activity wether it was waving the flags around the room or using the corks to score goals in the “net”.
Before we headed for our dinner we enjoyed listening to a couple football/England songs such as wavin flag, waka waka, and of course three lions 🦁
During outdoor play we even had some fun playing football ourselves which supports the children’s physical development, communication and language, personal, social and emotional development, mathematics, and understanding the world.

This past week we celebrated world Bee 🐝 day.
The children made their own Bee models using the playdoh, and made their own Bee crafts. We also extended our mini beasts theme outside as the children had to go looking for different incects in the soil. We also found outside a beetle, bees, butterfly, and a grasshopper.

As of recently we’ve been looking at mini beasts and it’s been proving a big hit with the children as we have been spotting more insects out and about our village. Last week we also celebrated Sir David Attenborough 100th birthday 🎈this was perfect to mix in with our mini beasts theme as the children helped save their habit by picking up the rubbish around the tray. This led to conversations about why we should always put rubbish in the bin and what Sir David Attenborough has done for animals all across the world 🌍

CROMWELL BOTTOM NATURE RESERVE 🌳
What a fantastic day we’ve had☀️
Today we visited Cromwell bottom and the children have absolutely loved it. We started of by walking to the bus stop and waiting for our bus to take us down to Elland road. The children were ecstatic to be on the bus, this also prompted the children to talk about if they’ve been on a bus before, what they can see out the windows and sing the nursery rhyme “wheels on the bus”.
Once we got off the bus we walked on to the canal which took us to Cromwell bottom.
On our trip we saw lots of different animals and insects such as ladybirds, ducks, swans, snails, squirrels, butterflies, and even stopped by the bird area where we found 2 pheasant birds, 1 female and 1 male, we know this because we looked at the board and compared it.
After some more walking and looking out for dissent coloured flowers we made it to the picnic table where we all enjoyed our dinner.
After a long day of fun we headed back for Gingerbread Nursery by getting the bus back where we had a lovely conversation with a fellow passenger about where we’ve been and what we’ve seen, the passenger also complimented us on our manners and how well behaved we were.
Once finally back at Gingerbread we had a icepop and looked back on the photos we had taken which prompted us to talk about what was our favourite part of the day.
