We’ve had so much fun celebrating National Poetry Day at Bowling Green today! 📝💛

Poems and Pastries kicked off our morning beautifully, with the hall buzzing as poems were shared and read aloud. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make it such a lovely start to the day!

A poem in your pocket…all adults and children had a poem in their pocket today to read aloud and share together.

During assembly, Mrs Mellor had us all wondering if she’d gone a little crazy when she started talking about the Ning Nang Nong! We absolutely loved joining in with our whole-school retelling of Spike Milligan’s ‘On the Ning Nang Nong’. What a fantastic way to bring poetry to life!

Today has been all about celebrating poetry, not just at Bowling Green but across all our Trust primary schools too. Our Year 5 children loved working together with the Year 5s at West Vale Academy in person and connecting with Carlinghow Academy in Leeds via Zoom. It was wonderful to share our love of poetry across our school communities!

The poetry fun doesn’t stop today! We’ve loved seeing so many of our children and families getting involved with our daily poetry activities on Seesaw. Thank you for embracing the fun and sharing your enthusiasm for words, rhymes and rhythm.

Let’s do it all again, same time next year! 📖🎉

We really are blessed to have the BEST PTA and work in a community filled with kind hearted people. Sanding and painting the planters to make sure school will look fabulous when we welcome the children back after the summer. Thank you so much to everyone, including our little sunflowers 🌻, and especially the very kind gentleman who shared his expertise and got the job done in half the time!

Lovely! We’re so pleased to be a part of this teacher training provider, both in lecturing students and offering placements. 🧑‍🏫🍎

And the winner of the house point competition is…..VOICE (Red group).
Our wonderful red group enjoyed a trip to the park and an ice cream as a reward for having the most house points this year! 🥳🍦❤️

A great way to send our Year 6s on the next step of their schooling adventure: hide and seek in the school; pizza and ice cream; a final goodbye assembly celebrating their individual talents and accomplishments and ending with a water fight!

Our wonderful KITE children from across the whole year had a very exciting treat this morning! 🐾

We welcomed Walk on the Wild Side - animal encounters into school for hands-on workshops. The children had the opportunity to meet, hold and touch a range of animals, including guinea pigs, stick insects, a parrot and a snake!

Some staff got slightly more hands-on with the snake than the children, but we're pleased to report that no staff members were harmed in the experience! 🤣🐍

A big thank you to Vicky and Josh at Walk on the Wildside. It was brilliant, and we can't wait to welcome you back into school in the future! 🤍
