š Weāve been enjoying lots of ocean-themed books lately.
Thereās something lovely about watching a theme come to life through stories. One book sparks a question, another reminds us of something weāve seen before, and before long weāre talking about sea creatures, beaches, boats and all sorts of things beneath the waves.
I think thatās why I love themed book collections so much. They help children make connections, revisit ideas and explore their interests in a way that feels natural and fun.
These are some of the books that inspired our first Little Oaks Library collection. šš

Over the past few weeks, Iāve been sharing little snippets of me working behind the scenes, bringing Little Oaks Library to life š
But before Little Oaks Library was ever an idea, books were already a huge part of our everyday life.
If youāve followed me for a while, youāll know that books seem to find their way into almost everything we do. They sit alongside our play, inspire our invitations to explore, come with us on adventures, and are often the starting point for conversations, questions, and new interests.
Iāve loved childrenās books for as long as I can remember. I loved them as a child, and now as a parent I find so much joy in sharing beautiful stories with my own children.
Over the years, Iāve spent countless hours searching for books that connect with the seasons, childrenās interests, and the things they are naturally noticing in the world around them. The kind of books that are read again and again, long after the season has passed.
Little Oaks Library has grown from that love.
Each month, Iāll be sharing thoughtfully curated collections of seasonal childrenās books, inspired by the things children are naturally noticing, exploring, and bringing into their play at that time of year.
Books chosen with care, to help families spend less time searching and more time reading, playing, and making memories together.
Thank you for all of the encouragement, messages, and support so far. Seeing your excitement for this little idea has meant so much š¤

Ive been building something that complements the kind of play we naturally find ourselves enjoying at this time of year⦠a small collection of books inspired by seaside days and ocean adventures š
The kind that sit naturally alongside play, adding to it quietly.
A few shells, a story, maybe some sand⦠and suddenly thereās more to explore, more to imagine, and more to connect to real life.
This is the first theme Iāve been working on and it already feels like a lovely place to begin š

Iāve always shared the books weāve loved alongside our play⦠with my 4 and 1 year old, I see so often how they connect their ideas, learning, and imagination to the stories we read.
They shape so much of how children explore, imagine, and make sense of the world.
Books feel like such a beautiful tool and something worth choosing well.
Lately, Iāve been thinking about this more intentionally⦠how books sit alongside play, and how to share that in a simple way.
Itās part of something Iāve been working on, a way to add a little more depth to play.
Iāll share a little more soon š¤
