Halas Academy

This week is Learning Disability Week. I would like to shout out all the amazing people who come in every week! We have Sam, Dean, Keeon, Luke, Sophie, Lorna, David, Deana, Michel, Andrew, Natalie, Dempsey, Luke, Sophie and Josh

Today we visited Wyre Community Land Trust where we went on a walk and were introduced to whittling. We learnt about conservation in nature, and how the trust will create a diverse landscape across the hundred acres. We enjoyed a nice hour long walk in the sun and are looking forward to go back!

This afternoon we welcomed our volunteers for an Afternoon Tea to say thank you for all their help, support and contributions to Halas Homes. Thank you Kiki, Lydia, Susie and Colin!

We have been designing some bug hotels! With a mixture of paint, these will be ready to go outside soon!

This week we made some Gluten Free Pasta, Pizza and Chicken in Black Bean Sauce!

Thank you to B&Q for donating these. We can use these around Halas Homes itself and our allotment nearby. Lovely stuff!

Natalie made some pizza today from scratch! From weighing out the ingredients to letting it rise before rolling it out!

So far this week we have visited J’s community pop up cafe in Wollescote by the social club. We enjoyed all day breakfast, sandwiches and some lovely drinks. A calm and supportive environment that everyone wants to return to!

This week, we visited our allotment and dug up some weeds, as we are starting to prepare it all for planting fruit, veg and flowers! We then also attempted to make some Fluffy Canadian Pancakes, and a Poutine Burger! However, most didn't fancy any gravy - but they enjoyed making it all from scratch!
