🌿 Exploring Beyond the Nursery Classroom 🌿

At our nursery, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom door. We pride ourselves on giving our children rich, real-world experiences and opportunities to explore the world around them.

Last week our adventures included:

🦆 A trip to Mary Stevens Park to feed the ducks as part of our recent learning about rain
🐞 Visiting Saltwells Nature Reserve to search for bugs and learn about their habitats
🌈 Exploring Halesowen in search of all things colourful
🌳 Walking to our “big forest” to create nature faces using natural materials
📚 A visit to the library to develop our love of reading
🌸 Exploring our wider community for signs of spring and colourful flowers

These aren’t just special occasions — they are part of our weekly experiences for the children. Our high staff ratio allows us to get out and about, providing meaningful, hands-on learning opportunities that spark curiosity, creativity and a love of the world around them.

📚✨ World Book Day at Nursery ✨📚

Our day was Once Upon a Time themed and the children enjoyed exploring some wonderful stories and activities together.

🥣 We explored Goldilocks and the Three Bears and even tasted some delicious porridge.
🦆 The children created their very own Ugly Duckling biscuits.
🐾 We made lovely animal bookmarks to take home and use with our favourite books.
🫖 We held our very own Alice in Wonderland tea party, which was full of smiles and laughter.
🐷 The children tested different materials while exploring The Three Little Pigs to see which ones were the strongest.
🍪 We made Gingerbread Man playdough, inspired by the classic story.
📖 We shared lots of stories together throughout the day.
🎶 And we finished with dancing and singing along to World Book Day songs during our Music Bugs session!

🧧🐉 Celebrating Chinese New Year at Nursery! 🐉🧧

We’ve had a wonderful time celebrating Chinese New Year with our children — and we did all of this in one exciting day!

The children enjoyed tasting different foods, exploring Chinese artifacts, and getting creative while making colourful dragons 🎨🐲.

We also took part in lots of sensory activities, helping the children explore new textures, colours, and experiences. To top it all off, we enjoyed a visit to the library, where we listened to stories all about this special celebration and even helped to create a horse together 📚🐎.

💘 Valentine’s Week 💘

Last week was all about celebrating love in all its forms — kindness, creativity, self-care, friendship, and fun! ✨

We enjoyed a spa day full of self-care, with painted nails, temporary tattoos, hair glitter, and of course some relaxing time in the actual spa 🧖‍♀️💅

Our creative side came alive through love-themed art, alongside making love bug pebbles and baking edible cookies to share the love 🍪🐞🎨

We also explored sensory play, mixing and creating magical love potions — encouraging curiosity, imagination, and joyful experiences 💕🧪

A highlight of the week was our special Valentine’s Day brunch, enjoyed with our friends, sharing food, laughter, and togetherness 🥰🍓

We finished the celebrations with a music session, filled with singing, movement, and happy vibes 🎶❤️

A beautiful week filled with creativity, connection, friendship, and lots of love 💖

🦖 Dinosaur Week at Nursery! 🦕

We’ve had a ROAR-some time celebrating Dinosaur Week! The children have been busy exploring, creating, and discovering through lots of exciting activities, including:

🦴 Making fossils using salt dough
🌲 Searching for dinosaur bones in the forest
🦖 Hosting our very own dino party
🥚 Experimenting with fizzy dinosaur eggs
👣 Creating dinosaur footprints
🎶 Singing lots of dinosaur-themed songs

And so much more! It’s been wonderful to see the children’s curiosity, imagination, and enthusiasm throughout the week. What a dino-tastic adventure! 🦖✨

❄️ A Month of Winter Wonders! ❄️

Over the past month, we’ve been diving into a chilly world of discovery! We’ve been learning all about polar regions—exploring amazing animals like polar bears and penguins, investigating snow and ice, and even discovering the magic of the aurora borealis. 🌌🐧🐻‍❄️

Through stories, hands-on activities, art, and discussions, we’ve been building curiosity, asking thoughtful questions, and developing our understanding of the world around us.
