We are delighted to share that our school library has been shortlisted for the School Library Association (UK) Primary School Library of the Year Award. We are so proud of this special part of our school, created with and inspired by Liznojan, and how it helps our children to foster a love of reading.
“School libraries have the potential to meet the needs of every child in every school, across all areas of learning. These awards celebrate the librarians and library teams who turn that potential into reality.” – Victoria Dilly, chief executive of the School Library Association.
We are thrilled to announce the shortlists for the Secondary School Librarian of the Year Award, sponsored by Bloomsbury Publishing UK, and the Peter Usborne Primary School Library of the Year Award (Usborne Publishing).
As we approach the 90th anniversary of the School Library Association, it is more important than ever to highlight excellence in the profession and share real-life examples of the power of school libraries.
The work of this year’s shortlisted librarians goes far beyond encouraging reading for pleasure, though they each do this in a variety of ways – including hosting events, staging literacy interventions, building pupil-led reading schemes and improving access and inclusivity. An overarching theme was the wish to make the school library a place of sanctuary and belonging.
We are so excited to introduce these dedicated and inspirational librarians over the coming days – keep an eye on our channels to follow the story.
