Remember the results are not the defining moment in your life. They are just the start of a path that can take many directions. There are always options to achieve your long term goal, if your results are not what you were hoping for. I am so proud of all the young people I have had the pleasure of working with over the last year, who have coped and adapted to the unprecedented times we find ourselves in.

I love this quote.

During my sessions I work with tutees to help support the development of metacognative skills. When children encounter difficulties the default position for many is to disengage and 'zone out'. This can result in gaps in knowledge and will often result in future difficulties as prior knowledge isn't there as a foundation to enable progressive learning.

By working with tutees and developing skills in metacognation this helps them develop the skills and ability to learn how to learn. Metacognition is "cognition about cognition", "thinking about thinking", "knowing about knowing", becoming "aware of one's awareness" and higher-order thinking skills.

Having these skills allows my tutees to embrace their work with confidence and the skills required to independently overcome difficulties and develop a sound understanding. A consequence of this is that tutees are then apply to apply their knowledge in novel situations..... (for example when they are faced with an unfamiliar question in an exam.....)

Innovative use of ICT can be used to promote effective learning ..... this has been paramount over the last few months when E-Learning has become the norm! I am a certified Level 1 Google Educator and many of my resources have been developed to promote engagement and understanding with science remotely through the use of ICT.
