Hi Doodlebugs! ππ»
Apologies for the long silence...we haven't been entirely sure what's been happening with the planned building work restricting access to the site, but it has now finally started!
HOWEVER.... Surprise!! I'm now much too far into growing a tiny human to carry on! π€°π»ππ±π
So I'll be taking an extended maternity leave - I don't know for sure when I'll be back yet, but I'll have an extra little Doodlebug with me if and when I am! π₯°
Not a goodbye but a "see you soon," and please keep in touch! It's been an absolute pleasure getting to know you all over the last 7 years - what adventures we've had! πππ³π₯πΎπ

Another lovely Friday with you guys π
Today became all about different ways to play, we saw lots of use of imagination, creativity, strength and balance!
π We made models and shapes out of different coloured plasticine
βΊοΈ We made faces in frames from pebbles and thought about what different expressions might mean
π₯ We snaffled elderflower fitters straight from the campfire π€€ they were a huge hit!
π¨ We lost all our paintbrushes so had to use natural ones instead π
πΏ We made some beautiful hapa zome patterns using leaves, flowers and a hammer, well done everyone!
π We played with some beautiful small world figures, animals, a big rainbow, a wheely hedgehog and some ramps...the best bit is always seeing what the children come up with when left to design their own play!
Have a wonderful half term, dates for next term will be up soon! π

What a beautiful day we've had at Forest School today! Everything was just so pretty πΈπΉπΊπ»πΌπ·π΅οΈπͺ»
πͺ»We felt felted these beautifully bright flowers, wonderful process art for little fingers, can't wait to see what you all use them for!
π· We made stunning flower crowns
πΌ We made spring flower discovery bottles, so pretty, and a nice way for tiny babies to explore nature without everything going in their mouths!
πΊ We did oil pastel rubbings over our flower tiles...so satisfying!
πΈ We practiced weaving through Y-shaped sticks, love the colours!
π₯ Some of the older children practiced their fire lighting and our campfire snack today was mushroom pasta...yum!
Looking forward to next week already βΊοΈ

Reminder that if you're coming through Tavistock you will need to leave extra time for your journey due to the roadworks there! π¬

These little tables have served us well but have finally given up on life! If you know of anyone with a spare cable reel or two we'd happily re-home them! π

What a difference the sunshine makes! βοΈ Glorious fun in the sun with you all this morning!
Our theme was dandelions and we found lots of interesting ways to use them:
πΌ Dandelion ice cubes in the water tray
πΌ Dandelion painting
πΌ Dandelion play-doh
πΌ Garden yoga under the blossom trees
πΌ And delicious dandelion pancakes fresh from the fire! π€€
We also had cake and bananas, swinging in the hammock, musical instruments and all the usual Doodlebugs fun!
Big thanks again to those of you who have donated, or promised donations of fire wood, it's such a big help ππ
Keep doing your sunshine dances for next week! ππβοΈ
If you'd like to join us, we still have space this term. We run on a Friday morning, 10-11.30, outside at Delaware Pre-School .
Just drop an email to [email protected] to book your place!

Well we certainly ate well today π
π The children decorated their own "Colin the Caterpillar" biscuits (thank you Alison Weeks for the chocolatey caterpillar bits!)
π We were also treated to a "free from" caterpillar cake - I do love an accidental theme!
π₯ Our campfire snack was mushroom omelettes π€€
π We had some delicious lemon and nettle cake to swap for donations too, these little bits of spare change really make a massive difference in keeping the group running, so thank you all for your contributions βΊοΈ
π We learned about the "s/ss" sounds in a satisfyingly squishy snake tray
π¦ We made beautiful recycled cardboard birds, I just love how these turned out, and how each one was so different!
π» We planted sunflowers to take home
π¨ We printed sunflowers onto a big collaborative art piece, just look at how beautiful it was!
And, finally, unbelievably, IT DIDN'T ACTUALLY RAIN FOR THE ENTIRE SESSION!!! π±βοΈπ
I'm still in shock π
Have a lovely long weekend everyone, see you next week! π

So great to be back in the woods with some new friends, and some old ones visiting from New Zealand! π
π₯We celebrated Earth Day today with some delicious wild garlic flower fritters cooked over the fire π€€
π An eco gelli slime tray full of wild animals....SO much mess and fun π€£
π An ocean rescue tray, where the children saved the sea creatures by sorting all the rubbish out of the water
πΌ Dandelion wishing jars...wishes that never run out! What did you wish for?
π± Paper seed bombs to grow our own native wildflowers.
Congratulations to Tommy and Cedric on becoming big brothers! So special to have 2 lovely newborns with us today π
Looking forward to seeing even more of you next week! Have a great weekend Doodlebugs ππ
