Today is World Mental Health Day 2026 and throughout this week in Endeavour at Prior Pursglove College (Official) we've been focusing on the theme "Hello Yellow" for the Campaign ran by the charity Young Minds. 💛

In the Breakout Room on Wednesday we ran a range of yellow themed relaxing arts and crafts activities, there was a guided breathing session by LSA Marie, during walks around the site we focused on identifying anything yellow the students could see; including these beautiful sunflowers. The activities were rounded off with a rendition of Yellow by Coldplay, as well as other "Yellow" themed songs, by some of our students.

The Campaign for World Mental Health Day from Young Minds is a really important one and incredibly valid at present day.

We pride ourselves in creating a safe space within Endeavour for all of our students here and we are passionate in supporting the mental health for all. 💛

As part of their ‘working safely’ unit SFD1 have been planting over-wintering peas, broad beans and perpetual spinach, hoping to get an early crop next year 😁🫛🌱

We are delighted to be hosting the 2026 All Our Futures Youth Climate Conference at Prior Pursglove College (Official) on Thursday 5th November, running from 10am until 2pm.

The Annual Youth Climate Conference: An event bringing together 100 young people from across Redcar and Cleveland who are curious about the climate, passionate about the planet, or interested in exploring future green careers
to discuss and influence local climate action.

Throughout the day, students will take part in a series of hands‑on, practical workshops, each designed to spark ideas, build confidence, and encourage meaningful climate action.

The programme will begin and end with keynote talks to inspire and frame the day’s learning.

We look forward to sharing more about the conference in the coming weeks so watch this space 👀

This weeks lunchtime activities in Endeavour at are focusing on the ‘Hello Yellow’ campaign run by the charity Young Minds 💛

Yesterday's activity saw the students take inspiration from the landscape in the Endeavour garden. By painting Autumn trees simply by using cotton buds, this helped them to relax, escape and open conversations.

Yesterday our Skills for Development 2 group had their first session in the Woodwork Workshop Prior Pursglove College, also known as The Polyhedron Artisan Hub 🪵

After a briefing by John, the students got set up on their benches, organising their equipment ready to use

They practiced cutting a piece of wood at a 2 inch mark, utilising their functional maths skills, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, as well as ensuring they were working safely throughout the task

The students finished the session buzzing with ideas of what they can make in the following sessions, gifts for their family, practical creations for around the home and so much more 😁

At the start of the session, John was presented by a wonderful unexpected gift by one of our students; a homemade sign for the workshop 🌟

Today Supported Volunteering Interns met with Olivia (Tees Valley Wildlife Trust) and Michael (thejunctioncharity) to plan the the third and final year of the All Our Futures Project. We set our goals and then worked together to build an insect hotel called ‘Endeavour is Buzzing’ 🐝

Next week we head to Margrove Park to learn the importance of accurate surveying, when we check the health of their wild small mammal populations.

A productive morning for Skills for Development 1 today 🙌

They have demonstrated great teamwork and enthusiasm as well as putting into action the skills they are learning in their Working Safely Module in their Vocational Studies Qualification Prior Pursglove College

The group started in the greenhouse, potting up strawberry plants, working out how much soil each plant pot needs and at what depth to place the strawberry plant.

Next they helped to harvest some apples, pears and plums from our orchard as well as sorting through the tomato's that had already been picked to see what was good to eat 😋

Once finished collecting the fruit, the group headed to the Endeavour garden to tidy round, using the strimmer, sweeping brushes and litter pickers to refresh the area 🤩

Finally, back in the breakout room, the students collected the seeds from sunflowers that we had grown, as well as cosmos and calendula flowers to dry, ready for sowing again next season 🌻

What a great morning the group have had!👏

To coincide with 'National Doodle Day- Epilepsy Action' today, 25th September, the students and staff have been creating doodles over every lunchtime in the breakout room this week.

As a department challenge, to raise awareness of this charity and to show doodles as a form of art, the entire whiteboard in room 12 was filled with staff and student's doodles on yesterdays lunchtime.

Over the years we will have all seen how both staff and students use doodles to help with focus and regulation.

Students had been warming up to this by doodling all week over lunchtime. Here are some of their creations.

Thank you to everyone who added a drawing to our huge doodle board challenge yesterday to raise awareness for the charity Epilepsy Action.

And just like that the group are back home again!

After being 'on-guard' whilst Fencing and brave and full of adrenaline during the time on the zip line, the group ended the day on a high 😁

The weather was perfect, the teamwork, enthusiasm and encouragement was aplenty and Endeavour does PGL 2026 is complete 🥳
