Away day at Royal Holloway was class, everyone did us proud at the competition. We had a lovely time meeting familiar faces and making new friends there while debating interesting yet challenging topics through the day 🎉🎉
While we debated, we also had a social at the end at royal Holloway to relax after a fun day of debating as a chance to chat more to their society. They were so accommodating and nice, so much so that we will definitely be planning another collab in the near future❤️❤️
Expect more of the same, and to anyone who has never come, you’re more than welcome to come along on a Monday and Thursday then potentially join us at the next one 🔜🔜
Also enjoy the vid of our VP necking a cheeky pint after the competition, despite arriving 5 hours late he won our hearts back by being an absolute soldier🍻😎

Cracking day out at Imperial College London for the debate competition last Saturday’s! Universities including the likes of Cambridge, LSE, UCL and Warwick competed which made it no easy task so congratulations to everyone who participated 🎉 🫶
This competition was a huge success for us and our next competition is next Saturday against Royal Holloway, we plan to have many more days like this imperial competition. A chance to compete and test yourself against the best.
Expect more of this to come.

Our Story
Whether you want to improve your public speaking skills, compete with other university teams in the UK debating circuit, or simply join other students in discussing the issues that affect us all, you'll be very welcome at the University of Surrey Debating Society!
Feel free to come along to any of our weekly debating sessions on Thursdays at 6pm in 31 MS 02. We also have Training sessions to improve your competitive abilities on Tuesdays at 6PM in TB01!
Every week we either start off with an ice breaker, or jump straight into voting on motions and splitting into groups for the debate. Our debates are fun to watch, and even more fun to take part in. Motions are varied, passions are ignited, the rule of three is well utilised.
We like to go to the pub after a session for a relaxed chat and a drink. Topics include anything you can think of, with a special emphasis on politics and current affairs We're an exceedingly friendly bunch and welcome everyone.
