I thought I’d share some of my yoga lessons plans for those that are interested.

These are a selection of vinyasa flow classes (plus a little restorative at the end) that I have planned and taught in the last few months (ie they come from my most recent notebook)…it’s very likely that these were taught differently to how I planned them as I always teach to the room adapting and pivoting as needed…they are a helpful guide.

And I really do love to plan - I find it cathartic and calming…it organises my thoughts and inspires me - the facing pages of these practices are were I make my notes on what philosophy I will have that day/week. Another deeply enjoyable part of the process is writing out in Devanagari inspiring words and passages of text.

If you are interested enough to zoom in then I hope you can decipher my stick figures… I’ve been doing them so long they are like a script to me now - a little yoga shorthand or whatnot🧘🏻‍♀️

Have a wonderful evening all.

😘

It’s true… feeding is one of my love languages 🥰😆

I get so much joy from planning and preparing the sweet treats I offer up at my retreat days; bliss balls, stuffed dates, millionaires shortbread… I definitely have some seasoned favourites (the aforementioned millionaires is mine) and I am also always trawling and experimenting to find new ideas.. I mean - it’s amazing just how many ways you can stuff a date!

This post is partly prompted by me planning the treats for next Sunday’s Gather retreat…but also…because we had a really fun discussion about love languages in class last Thursday.

Now obvs we are all far more complex and layered than to be able to be neatly segment our expression of love into 5 reductive categories… but hey, I grew up in the era of magazine quizzes so I love this kind of fun.

Physical touch tops my list - both giving and receiving. Nothing beats a hug and snuggle with my family - curled up on the sofa, drinking in the smell of their warm skin 🥰, those days when the girls would need to to hug them to sleep and I would lie there and think - if this moment lasted forever I would be happy (albeit with a cricked neck 😆)… it’s the absolute best!

Acts of service is another way I show love… and feeding people - especially sweet treats - is right up there.

I’m curious (and nosy) what’s your love language?

🍂The Autumn Shift

by Rose Cook

It is suddenly upon us,
the days darker, the night deeper,
bringing its gifts.

The allotment shows end fruits,
sunflowers raised high,
yellowed marrows, tomatoes loaded on vines.

The air feels damp.
Red glints on the hawthorn in the shadows.
A wanderer tells of a moor valley lit by rowan berries.

Afternoon turns twilight, the shift is upon us,
the pull is inward, to dreams, renewal.
Stargazing later, wrap up warm.

There is a saying in the Yoga Vasistha that goes..

“There are 4 soldiers that guard the road to liberation; they are
PATIENCE
SELF INQUIRY
CONTENTMENT and
COMPANY OF THE WISE
Make any one of the above your friend, the others will be easy.”

When we gather together as a group to practise yoga we give ourselves the opportunity to come face to face with these guards and look them in the eye.

And lord knows we need to… I speak for myself and for what I observe as a teacher when I say that we are further from befriending these 4 soldiers than ever before. It is a travesty how we have jettisoned our patience into the black hole of a handheld device, how Self Inquiry is now checking your HRV via wearables or googling to see what supplements will ‘fix’ the perceived ill, how contentment is misunderstood as purchasing power and how so often ‘the wise’ is now a podcaster or, even worse, a bot.

We really have got ourselves into a pickle.

It is vital that we commit to time away from technology, that we learn to sit with ourselves and with each other, that we hone the tools that help us to endure life’s hardships and open us to up to it’s joy. That we remind ourselves that we are enough and that we have enough.

My intention behind these day retreats is to allow that time. Our days will include a broad range of yoga - some practices require active participation, some will be deliciously passive.

I have tried to price the days fairly - £65 each.

There are few frills - you bring your lunch, I do tea and treats.
If you are someone who lives for bells, whistles and a sponsored goodie bag then this probably isn’t for you.

Booking details are via the link or DM me.

All retreat days are Sundays 10 am - 4 pm
October 4, November 15th, December 13th, January 17th.
Shackleford Village Hall, Surrey.
Parking right outside the venue.

✨🪩 happy place 🪩✨

My Village hall yoga classes started back today and it was so *so* good to be back with everyone in this space; breathing, moving, chatting etc…

I host two classes a week at Shackleford Village Hall and I would love to invite you to join us:

💋9.30am - 90 minute all levels vinyasa class. Expect yoga philosophy, quiet time, breath awareness, flowing poses and a good long savasana

💋11.30am - 75 minutes inter/adv class. The inter/adv describes the physical postures we cover in this session. Expect flexibility challenges, inversions, arm balances and more

If you are a keen yoga bunny these classes work really well as a double with the added bonus we get half an hour chat time in between!

Any questions send them my way. Drop in’s welcome or sign yourself up for a 5 class pass.

Details in my profile.
