**Embracing Boredom To Bolster Kids’ Resilience**
In our fast-paced world, it's easy to fill every moment with activities and stimuli. But here's the thing – boredom isn't the enemy! In fact, it's a powerful tool that can spark incredible creativity and growth in your kids (and you!). 🌱✨
🎨 Unleash Creativity: When kids are bored, they're forced to tap into their imaginations. Remember those days when we turned cardboard boxes into spaceships or created imaginary worlds in our cupboards (well I did!)? Boredom can rekindle that magic, encouraging kids to invent, draw, build, and explore.
📚 Cultivate Independence: Boredom encourages children to find their own entertainment and solutions. It fosters independence as they learn to navigate their interests and engage in self-directed activities, boosting confidence and problem-solving skills.
🌍 Discover Passion: Without a constant stream of entertainment, kids have the opportunity to stumble upon passions they might not have discovered otherwise. Whether it's playing a musical instrument, crafting, or delving into books, boredom can be the gateway to lifelong interests.
💭 Develop Resilience: Boredom teaches patience and resilience. It's a safe space to experience emotions and learn that not every moment needs to be filled with excitement. These skills are crucial for handling challenges and setbacks in the future.
🧠 Rest and Reflect: Just like adults, kids need downtime to recharge their minds. Boredom allows for moments of introspection, helping them process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
Don't rush to fill your child’s time. Instead, encourage them to explore their imagination, try new things, or simply be still. Remember, out of boredom can sprout some of the most beautiful and innovative ideas. 🌟🚀
Share your thoughts! How do you embrace boredom in your kids' lives?

VISION - VITALITY VOICE
💛👦👧
“My daughter only needed one session, it was a wonderful confidence boost for her, during the wobbly time she was experiencing at school. She’s doing really well now. Thank you.”
The mum recognised me from my Resilient Kids With Jane Tyson one to one, parent and child session that I’d run a while ago at Burpham Yurt.
VISION | VITALITY | VOICE 💪❤️♾
We don’t all have a “village” to help us to raise our kids.
At times, it can feel isolating and uncomfortable and we could do with some practical tips, support and guidance.
If you would like to join in with my next “Resilient Kids” virtual 1 hour event on Zoom, where I’ll share some resilience bolstering family tips, plus allow time for conversation and connection with other parents in a facilitated space, then please either comment with a “YES”below or send me a message and I’ll send over the info.
Let’s create a village.
An affordable and simple resilience boost 💪 - learn something new in a library!
It’s not all books!📚
During.our family trip to Sheffield, my 16 year old daughter and husband attended the Crystal Palace vs Sheffield game, and 18 year old son and girlfriend explored the University Campus, I enjoyed my own 51 year old adventures 😂
First stop was Sheffield City Library to do a little research for a digital course and download that I’m working on.
It was a fabulous library with a wonderful family zone. They’ve introduced lots of board games and Lego boxes which have proven extremely popular.
Sheffield is a great city for kids.
Are you reading anything at the moment or learning something new? Please share…
On top of this my Nan used to give me rich tea biscuits with jam and butter, my fave.
Worked a treat 😂
How about you?

A big shout out to all the kids who didn’t win an award, make honor roll, and barely made it through the school year. A big hug to the moms, dads, grandparents, caregivers, and foster parents that stuck by them as they maneuvered the school year.
To the kids that didn’t get invited to the prom, didn’t get a scholarship to college, and perhaps have to go straight to work out of high school....you are still worthy of a pat on the back and a Facebook post with people talking about how amazing you are.
Some kids have to work twice as hard as other students just to get a C. Their achievements deserve recognition.
Don’t forget those kids.
Kindness, creativity, and generosity....those attributes sadly don’t get the accolades they deserve.

"Can I show you something fun and random?" said the 8-year-old.
"OK, fun and random is good!"
She walked me over to a funny picture of her two cats.
"Look, aren't they silly!" she giggled and told me all about them and their playful nature.
A lovely moment to have some "time" for a Random Dialogue and to simply chat about this and that without a worksheet😀
Image: not the two exact cats, random ones I found.

This little collection is a beautiful story, you’ll have to guess what it’s about though 😃

Many of the childrens' visions were to upgrade their play station games and levels, sob.
“Once a little boy went to school.
One morning
The teacher said:
"Today we are going to make a picture."
"Good!" thought the little boy.
He liked to make all kinds;
Lions and tigers,
Chickens and cows,
Trains and boats;
And he took out his box of crayons
And began to draw.
But the teacher said, "Wait!"
"It is not time to begin!"
And she waited until everyone looked ready.
"Now," said the teacher,
"We are going to make flowers."
"Good!" thought the little boy,
He liked to make beautiful ones
With his pink and orange and blue crayons.
But the teacher said "Wait!"
"And I will show you how."
And it was red, with a green stem.
"There," said the teacher,
"Now you may begin."
The little boy looked at his teacher's flower
Then he looked at his own flower.
He liked his flower better than the teacher's
But he did not say this.
He just turned his paper over,
And made a flower like the teacher's.
It was red, with a green stem.
On another day
The teacher said:
"Today we are going to make something with clay."
"Good!" thought the little boy;
He liked clay.
He could make all kinds of things with clay:
Snakes and snowmen,
Elephants and mice,
Cars and trucks
And he began to pull and pinch
His ball of clay.
But the teacher said, "Wait!"
"It is not time to begin!"
And she waited until everyone looked ready.
"Now," said the teacher,
"We are going to make a dish."
"Good!" thought the little boy,
He liked to make dishes.
And he began to make some
That were all shapes and sizes.
But the teacher said "Wait!"
"And I will show you how."
And she showed everyone how to make
One deep dish.
"There," said the teacher,
"Now you may begin."
The little boy looked at the teacher's dish;
Then he looked at his own.
He liked his better than the teacher's
But he did not say this.
He just rolled his clay into a big ball again
And made a dish like the teacher's.
It was a deep dish.
And pretty soon
The little boy learned to wait,
And to watch
And to make things just like the teacher.
And pretty soon
He didn't make things of his own anymore.
Then it happened
That the little boy and his family
Moved to another house,
In another city,
And the little boy
Had to go to another school.
The teacher said:
"Today we are going to make a picture."
"Good!" thought the little boy.
And he waited for the teacher
To tell what to do.
But the teacher didn't say anything.
She just walked around the room.
When she came to the little boy
She asked, "Don't you want to make a picture?"
"Yes," said the little boy.
"What are we going to make?"
"I don't know until you make it," said the teacher.
"How shall I make it?" asked the little boy.
"Why, anyway you like," said the teacher.
"And any color?" asked the little boy.
"Any color," said the teacher.
And he began to make a red flower with a green stem. “

**Power Up Your Kids' Resilience with These 5 Healthy Snack Ideas!**
Encouraging healthy eating habits in kids can have a significant impact on their resilience. Providing them with a balanced diet that's full of essential nutrients can help them build a robust immune system, maintain a healthy weight, and enhance their mood and cognitive function. Moreover, introducing a variety of foods can expand their taste buds, making mealtimes more enjoyable and less stressful for everyone involved.
As parents, it's important to remember that children may go through phases of not wanting to eat certain foods. Avoid forcing them to eat and instead focus on making mealtime a time to connect and enjoy each other's company. In my experience, offering a selection of chopped-up veggies and healthier options for them to choose from works better than presenting it on their plate and forcing them to eat it.
And don't forget to prioritize your own health too! Planning out a few healthy snacks for yourself during the week can set a positive example and help your kids develop healthy habits in the long run.
I’ve shared some healthy snack suggestions in this infographic and look forward to hearing about yours.
If you’d like any of the recipes let me know. For example, I frequently make homemade humus (freezable).
"Discover the Fascinating Immortal Jellyfish: A Gateway to Sparking Curiosity in Children About the Wonders of Nature!"
Have you ever heard of the immortal jellyfish? It's a great example of the wonders of nature and can inspire children to be curious about the world around them.
Unlike other jellyfish species that have a limited lifespan, the immortal jellyfish has the ability to revert back to its juvenile form after reaching maturity. This means that it can theoretically live forever, as long as it doesn't fall prey to predators or suffer from disease or injury.
Another interesting fact about the immortal jellyfish is that it can adapt to different environments. It can live in both warm and cold waters and has been found in oceans all around the world
Scientists are studying this jellyfish to learn more about its ability to adapt and regenerate, which could have important implications for human health and longevity research.
So have a chat about this with your kids and consider these questions ⬇️
Is living forever a good thing or a bad thing?❓
Will there be too many people and not enough resources?❓
What other questions could they consider❓

This sounds like a good plan!
Which areas of your child’s life are you over-controlling? Can you step back and let them “BE” a bit more? Take a breath before wading in and wanting it your way. Consider where your actions and words are coming from. Be a wise guide, put your nagging aside.
