Just back from my six-monthly “have-I-got-it-right?” and “what-will-I-change?” business holiday.
And this one was a cracker.

This is a photo of evening two, when all the work was done and I met a lovely friend for dinner.

I had a call with my marketing gurus () and we concocted a new business idea that will help many more midlife professionals design their next decade of work with more support from me… it’s going to be fun 🤩. (Watch this space)

If you can make it happen in your busy life, a two-day thinking holiday can fast-track your business, get you excited and make sure you’re doing the right things - for the next six months.

I’m booking one for Dec - today.

Here’s where I do it. - a haven of chilled-out marvellousness - just outside the M25.

It’s got:
👏A big casual Co-working hub (hotel guests can use)
🤸‍♂️A gorgeous gym
🏋️‍♂️Classes to sprinkle through your day (I did stretchology this time - cracking fascia stretching)
🧖‍♀️A spa (not used this but friends have loved the deep-tissue massage)
🏊‍♀️A lido with rose bar (I used both)
🛌The biggest beds I’ve ever slept in UK
👩‍🍳Multiple restaurants and bars
📽cinema (better in winter than summer)

I like this place Sooooo much i’ve even taken the family for a weekend away with friends.

Book yourself in for a thinking holiday and design your next six months - your way.

You won’t regret it.

I’m considering getting remarried (😈)…read on…

Elizabeth had enjoyed a very successful career and then stopped working to have a family.

When we met she knew she didn’t want to go back ⏮to her first career but didn’t have a clue what she wanted to do going forward⏭.

My research and experience knew that the only place to start was figuring out her Superpowers and Kryptonite.

We worked one-on-one to nail both of those.

She spent time doing my assessments (including Derailed!) and spent a couple of weeks diving into her past experience to answer my very specific questions. 👏

Then she joined me in a three hour recorded deep-dive session on zoom.

After three hours of discussing her career and life (when do you ever get to talk for hours about yourself to someone who finds every word fascinating?!), I disappeared off for a week to do my thing and find the patterns that would lead me to her Superpowers.

Those then became the frame from which Elizabeth evaluated all future decisions around work.

Since then, she has discovered her dream work that plays into her Superpowers and keeps her Kryptonite in the far distance.

She’s moved from big picture career design mode into business design mode.

I’m soooooo excited to see her new business grow around her Superpowers.

If you’ve got a special reason to celebrate and want some help designing a unique ceremony - Elizabeth is the one to help. (See link in comments to check out her website)

I’m considering getting remarried - just so that I can see her Superpowers in action. (🤫 Don’t tell Phil ❤️😈)

Perhaps it’s a weird niche to choose in business?

Midlife professionals who know they want change, don’t know what change they need and don’t know where to start.

But it’s one that I love. Smart people get stuck.

I got stuck. 🙃

And had to wade my way through it alone🥹.

Learning everything.

Sometimes reinventing the wheel. 😤

And occasionally making connections that no-one else in the world had made. 🤗

Because I love learning midlife career design has become my mastermind specialist subject. 👩‍🎓

But if you, or someone you know, wants to get results rather than learn everything I’ve learned in 25 years of career consulting, have a look at some of my programmes (link in bio)

If you’re just starting out - have a look at Derailed!

It’s a deep assessment tool that has been designed in the form of a light 100 question quiz. It’s an eye-opener for my clients. And only costs £29 - introductory price.

Half-term high jinx in Manchester. (Still not left the country as a family for years!)

We popped into and found ourselves actually becoming part of their current exhibit.

They kindly shared the photos with us.

We’re a family who normally sprints around galleries and museums 🤭😲but today we’ve been captured by amazing exhibits at The Lowry and The war museum. And we were surrounded by enthusiastic, knowledgable staff who obviously loved their work! 👏 👏

As midlifers, many of us get stuck in a rut of doing the same things, with the same people for so long…we don’t notice we’re in a rut.

I know I did for a few years. And I’m talking about life too - not just work.

But work is the easy one to put on auto-pilot when we’re busy working through the frequent challenges of changes at home. 👧🏻 🐕 🏃‍♀️ 📚 💒

Which is why so many of the midlife professionals who join get a bit of a thrill out of some of the do-things-differently challenges I pose each week.

When you think differently, you begin to act differently, to see doors that were never there before and to say ‘yes’ to things that you’ve never thought you’d say ‘yes’ to.

For instance my friend invited me to join her for a spot of aerial cocoon gong bath-ing last week 🤭, it tooks about millisecond to say ‘yes’. And it was one of the most unusual experiences I’ve had for a very long time.

Not sure there’ll be a second outing to the aerial cocoon going bath🫣😵‍💫🫤…and that might be the only time in my life I get to say that phrase!
Fierce experiments in life. Lead to fierce experiments in work. 💥

One of the most common pieces of feedback I receive from the Fierce Emporium is that decision-making gets easier. There are frameworks included that make saying ‘yes’ and ‘no’ much easier.
