🎒 Starting Reception this September?
Due to demand, we’re excited to be adding another Reception aged class on Thursdays from 4.15–5.00pm at Sutherland Memorial Park, Burpham.
One of the biggest concerns we hear from parents is whether their child will be too tired when they start school, for physical activity. Our answer is always the same… the more the children move, the quicker they build the stamina and energy that they’ll need to thrive.
Designed specifically for new school starters, this phase of the curriculum introduces children to the 8 major sports they’ll experience in the school environment while developing confidence, competence and a genuine love of being active.
🎉 Free trials are available for children starting Reception this September.

🏅📋 A few of our coaches showing off their medals and reports at this morning’s classes!
Today marked the start of Playball Report Week – one of our favourite weeks of the year. 💙
Over the coming days, hundreds of Playballers will receive their personalised report and medal, celebrating the fantastic progress they’ve made this term.
Our reports are about so much more than sporting ability. They provide parents with meaningful feedback on each child’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, highlighting the confidence, resilience, teamwork, listening skills and problem-solving we’ve seen grow throughout the term.
A huge thank you to our incredible coaching team, who have spent the last few weeks carefully observing every child and writing each report individually. It’s a big job, but one we know is hugely valued by our Playball families.
We can’t wait to celebrate the rest of our amazing Playballers throughout the week. Congratulations to everyone receiving their reports and medals – you’ve earned them! 🌟🏅

☀️ WEATHER UPDATE ☀️
We’re expecting some very hot weather this week and will be keeping a close eye on conditions throughout.
At this stage, all Playball classes will continue as planned. Should we need to make any changes to our schedule, we will communicate directly with parents as soon as possible.
To help keep everyone safe and happy in the heat, we’ll be keeping an eye on government guidance and of course adapting sessions, taking plenty of water breaks and opportunities to rest between activities.
Parents, please ensure your child arrives with:
🧢 A hat
🧴 Sunscreen already applied
💧 A clearly named water bottle with plenty of fluids
Thank you for your support and cooperation. We look forward to seeing everyone this week! 😎☀️

📋 End of term assessment’s start from today!
Over the next couple of weeks, our coaches will be carefully observing each child and taking notes as we prepare for end of term reports.
Sessions will run as normal, but you may notice coaches with their clip boards, taking a little extra time on certain skills, rather than our usual high tempo and turnover of tasks during the class. This helps us to give you meaningful and accurate feedback on your child’s development.
At Playball we assess more than just sports skills- we track physical, social, emotional and cognitive development, with sport as the vehicle for learning.
All skills are graded as part of a journey towards competence for their age groups, focusing on progress and growth.

WEATHER FAQs 🌧
After several weeks of brilliant weather, we’ve suddenly had a few rainy days, so we thought now would be a good time to send a quick reminder regarding our weather protocols and how we manage sessions when conditions are unpredictable.
A few key points for parents:
✅ We monitor the weather closely throughout the day
✅ Weather can change very quickly, so decisions are often made closer to session time
✅ If there are ANY changes to the regular schedule, we will always contact parents directly
✅ Communication will come via email, text notification and social media updates
✅ Where possible, we will always aim to continue outdoors
✅ In certain circumstances, we may move to an indoor venue subject to short-notice availability
✅ Indoor venue changes carry significant additional costs, so these decisions are not taken lightly
✅ If you do NOT hear from us, please assume the session is going ahead as planned
Thanks as always for your understanding and support

First week of term 🤝 done.
And what a start it has been 🔥
From our youngest Playballers finding their feet in their first formal sport setting, to our older groups already getting stuck into game situations and technical coaching… the energy this week has been exactly what Playball is all about.
Brilliant to see so many familiar faces back, and a big welcome to all our new starters 👋
Let’s keep it rolling.
