Congratulations to our U6 Historian, Freya, who has been shortlisted for the national RICHARD III SOCIETY Essay Prize. Freya had to submit a 5000 word essay on a topic relevant to The Life and Times of Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Richard III, 1452-1485.
The broad topic, rich in political, societal and economic history Freya chose to focus her essay examining the view that Richard III's usurpation of power in 1483 is best explained by his fear of the Woodvilles.
Dr Helen Carrel, Head of History at Tormead, said "I am absolutely delighted with this news, and wish Freya my warmest congratulations. The study of Richard III is a topic close to my heart, and it's been a real privilege to read Freya's great research on this topic"

It was great to welcome Andrew Hampton and colleagues from other schools to a training day at Tormead this week.
Girls on Board is an approach to helping girls between the ages of 7 and 18 navigate the often troubled waters of friendship problems. It also helps girls, their parents, and their teachers understand the complexities and dynamics of girl friendships. Thank you for inspiring us, Andrew!
