Actual Size Dance Company

Actual Size Dance Company Welcome to the University of Surrey's student-led dance company!

Actual Size Dance Company (ASDC) is a student led amateur company, established by the students of the University of Surrey Dance Department in 2005. The majority of the company are BA Honours Dance students, however we have previously integrated with other courses and do recruit students on music, business management and finance courses. The company acts as a professional development tool, enabling company members to utilize and practice the skills learned within University and the BA Honours course(s). Contact us:

INTRODUCING THE WORKS✨

Ode to Actual Size - choreographed by all members

Using motifs from this year’s pieces and the last 3 years of Actual Size, all company members came together to create the work, enabling a sense of everything coming full circle and giving us closure to embark on whatever comes our way afterwards.

INTRODUCING THE WORKS✨

Evermore - choreographed by Adina Dumitrascu and Jasmine Staunton .dumitrascu

evermore explores evolution through the journey of humans, how we try to keep our balance, but to move forward, to evolve, we need to lose it and find it again and again. The piece is influenced by the dynamics and shapes of water, and how humans have no control of the currents beneath the surface that shift us.

MEET THE CREW✨

Music created by for ‘To Intertwine’

Jack Lavelle is 24 and creates music under the name of ‘Lil Wolf Beats’ . After graduating from university studying music composition and technology, Jack struggled to find work afterwards especially as the pandemic hit. Instead of resting on his laurels he took the opportunity to dig out some music he had created from as early as his college years and decided to pluck up the courage and release some music whilst in lockdown. Jack has been humbled by the response he has gotten ever since and being asked to create music for Actual Size Dance Company was exciting and rewarding to say the least. He still can’t believe his creativity is now being used to spark new creativity, which is the best feeling a creative could have!

To listen to the rest of the track alongside the piece and show BOOK NOW via the link in the bio!

A massive thank you to Jack for creating music exactly how we wanted for this piece.
