Using motifs from this year’s pieces and the last 3 years of Actual Size, all company members came together to create the work, enabling a sense of everything coming full circle and giving us closure to embark on whatever comes our way afterwards.

evermore explores evolution through the journey of humans, how we try to keep our balance, but to move forward, to evolve, we need to lose it and find it again and again. The piece is influenced by the dynamics and shapes of water, and how humans have no control of the currents beneath the surface that shift us.

Music created by for ‘To Intertwine’
Jack Lavelle is 24 and creates music under the name of ‘Lil Wolf Beats’ . After graduating from university studying music composition and technology, Jack struggled to find work afterwards especially as the pandemic hit. Instead of resting on his laurels he took the opportunity to dig out some music he had created from as early as his college years and decided to pluck up the courage and release some music whilst in lockdown. Jack has been humbled by the response he has gotten ever since and being asked to create music for Actual Size Dance Company was exciting and rewarding to say the least. He still can’t believe his creativity is now being used to spark new creativity, which is the best feeling a creative could have!

Mary is a final year dance student at the University of Surrey. She has been a member of actual size dance company for three years and previously volunteered as the assistant director of the company. She is pleased to have an opportunity to perform again for the first time in two years amidst the pandemic and excited to continue choreographing as a freelance artist in her new career after graduating.

“When creating Spare some change, Make a change, the overexaggerated characters were just as important as the movement itself. Working with the theme of socio-economic systems that divide the rich and the poor, my material revolves around how each character would perform the movement creating subtle and more obvious differences as the piece progresses. The story that unravels in the piece represents a dream of equality that could happen in society if we put the energy and resources into the right people.” - Jas
