The Kamon Martial Art Federation was founded in 1992 by Master Kevin Chan. Kamon is a dynamic organisation with schools throughout the UK. The aim of Kamon is to elevate Wing Chun to its next evolutionary level. Members of Kamon are all very different, ranging from people who have no previous martial art training to the discerning martial artist, coming from martial arts backgrounds like Karate, Taekwondo, Boxing, Jiu-Jitsu and other Wing Chun styles. Our students do share similarities, most notably a dedication to learning an effective Wing Chun style in a friendly environment. The Kamon system of Wing Chun, as adapted by Master Kevin Chan, is complete and highly effective. It has evolved for use in the 21st century and is continually evolving. The Kamon practitioner learns the complete traditional Wing Chun syllabus in depth, together with the best aspects of other fighting systems to make the individual well versed and flexible enough to adapt to any situation, making them unconventional and unpredictable. Kamon Wing Chun is self-defence in its purest and most efficient form. The aim is to win in the shortest possible time when a physical confrontation becomes inevitable. We use the most direct lines of attack and defence; explosive punches and palms, devastating elbows and chops and savage low to mid section kicks. We use an opponent's force to our advantage so size, build, gender and aggression will not determine the outcome. Kamon will prepare you for all eventualities in a fight situation. Most forms of combat will teach the practitioner to keep a comfortable distance to punch or kick. However, in real street-level defence, you may not have this luxury, especially where space is at a premium. Perhaps someone simply rushes in to grab you, or the fight goes to ground. Kamon addresses all these possibilities.
