A Level Success from the Class of 2026

Here at St Catherine’s, we’ve been celebrating the wonderful achievements of our A Level students in style. Our Head, Ms Emma Watson, reflects on this year’s results:

''This year's A Level results are outstanding. Whilst 83% of grades awarded were A*-B and 59% of grades were A*/A, we are also exceptionally proud of the breadth of excellence across our subjects, including Further Mathematics, Art, Photography, Computer Science, Latin and Textiles, in which every grade awarded was an A* or A.

Yet the most important story of today is not one of grades, but of character and preparedness for the future.

These outcomes reflect a community of young adults who approach life with curiosity and courage. They are academically ambitious, but they are more aptly defined by their willingness to follow individual pathways and by how they embrace opportunities that are right for them.

This year’s leavers exemplify the breadth and ambition of a St Catherine’s education. Some are heading to leading universities in the UK, while others will be studying as far afield as Australia, the USA and Bosnia. Alongside traditional academic routes, others have chosen pathways that are future-focused and industry-orientated, demonstrating the confidence to carve out careers in emerging fields and the independence of mind to pursue opportunities beyond convention.

A St Catherine’s education gives pupils the freedom to discover who they are, the confidence to pursue their ambitions and the resilience to thrive beyond school. These results are evidence not only of academic excellence, but of exceptional preparation for life beyond school.

And while each girl has earned her own success, none has done so alone. Behind every achievement stands a powerful network of friendship, family and dedicated staff whose encouragement, care and belief have helped our girls flourish. Together, they have created a culture in which girls support one another to aim high, grow in confidence and leave school ready to make their mark on the world.''

As we count down to tomorrow, our Head, Ms Emma Watson, would like to wish all of our U6 (Year 13) students the very best of luck.

We look forward to welcoming you back tomorrow between 11.00am and 1.00pm in the Rose Garden for a special celebratory reception, where we can come together to recognise and celebrate all that you have achieved.

Whatever tomorrow brings, remember that your hard work and determination have already made us incredibly proud. You have accomplished so much, and this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

We are delighted to celebrate our very own Brucie Morris, Chemistry and Biology teacher, who was selected as an official for the 2026 Women's World Championships DII in Poland this summer. This will be his third World Championships, having been selected to referee in Towson 2022, and Hong Kong 2024. Taking place over eight days in Wroclaw the tournament saw 42 games with Italy taking home the gold medal in the first ever edition of a World Lacrosse Division II Championship.

Talking about the crossover between his coaching and refereeing, and his teaching philosophy Mr Morris says

“At World Championships, we work with the best from around the globe in a high-pressure environment. We develop a positive rapport with each other very quickly, as effective teamwork is a core competency. This is so important for my teaching because we work with each other, the girls' parents, and the girls daily to improve their St Cat's experience. St Cat's is not just a school that produces exceptional students; it is a school with a great culture built by exceptional people. I feel part of an environment where staff are actively encouraged to pursue excellence beyond our walls”

Huge congratulations to Mr Morris for his selection. We look forward to seeing him back on the pitches ready for an exciting new lacrosse season!

Beginning of what's next.

As we look ahead to the new academic year, we’re excited to begin the next chapter of the St Catherine’s story.

Before the end of term, our Heads, Ms Bartholomew and Ms Watson, sat down with our Senior School Head Girls to reflect on an exciting new chapter for our community and what the future holds.

At St Catherine's, we are proud of who we are and ambitious about who we are becoming. Our refreshed strategic vision sets a clear direction for the future, rooted in our values and shaped by a deep understanding of how girls learn, grow and lead in a changing world.

Together, they discuss the thinking behind our refreshed school values; Kindness, Connection, Forward Thinking and Responsibility, and how these will continue to inspire, support and empower every St Catherine's girl, today and for generations to come.

As we prepare to welcome our pupils back next month, we can’t wait to build on these values, embrace new opportunities and begin the next chapter together.

Career Insights: Inspiring Our Girls to Be Future Ready

As the Summer Term drew to a close, our Senior School girls enjoyed an inspiring Careers Insight talk from current parent, Jo Lomas, who shared her remarkable journey in the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office, supporting British interests overseas.

Having worked across the Middle East, Switzerland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Namibia, Rwanda, and London, Jo offered a fascinating insight into a global career. She encouraged our girls to be ambitious, embrace new challenges, and remain open to opportunities that may take them around the world.

Jo shared her career journey with warmth and passion, offering invaluable advice that encouraged our girls to aim high, embrace challenges, and seize every opportunity when overseas opportunities arise. Her words left a lasting impression, motivating students to believe in themselves and their potential. She also touched on AI that it may affect future jobs but cannot replace networking with people and negotiating in person. It is vital to always keep soft skills sharp as these will remain key to future success.

It was the perfect finale to our Summer Careers Programme. As Jo prepares to take up her new role as His Majesty's Ambassador to Estonia, we wish her every success and look forward to following the next chapter of her inspiring career.

What an incredible day of innovation!

Last Friday, our L3 students took part in an inspiring Engineering Workshop led by the fantastic team from Ericsson. Working in small groups, the girls were challenged to design creative solutions to real-world problems—and they certainly rose to the occasion!

Their ideas were imaginative, thoughtful and demonstrated excellent teamwork, problem-solving and presentation skills. From an eco-friendly plant power extraction system designed to keep plants thriving, to a portable oven that can advise you on and cook nutrient-rich meals, the girls showed just how innovative young engineers can be.

Many teams focused on making the world a better place, developing ideas to ensure everyone has access to a safe home and exploring how drone technology could help provide quality education to communities around the globe.

The winning invention, The Turtle Tummy-Turner, impressed everyone with its creativity and purpose. This advanced robotic turtle is designed to tackle plastic pollution in our oceans, collecting plastic waste before it can harm marine life and helping to ensure that no animals become trapped in plastic again.

A huge thank you to the Ericsson volunteers for delivering such an engaging and inspiring workshop. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
