Extending your child's curiosity and knowledge of the world through Montessori education at home.

Operating as usual

Constantly organising 3 of us each day is exhausting and it’s only 8.15am.

This is why I need routines and pictures for each of us to make MY life easier!

Does any other busy parents also feel like this??? 😳

Did you know the Guildford flames have games where KIDS GO FREE?

Nothing beats the atmosphere, energy and excitement of sitting in a room watching sports live. And the Ice Hockey here is always really family friendly.

I think it’s a good experience for the kids and we as parents also get to go something we use to love in our life before kids.

YES they find it hard to sit and focus through the whole game.

YES it can get stressful depending what mood they are in BUT it’s ok.

I have learnt over time to always keep a few simple things in the bag for those moments they need their down time as can imagine it can be a bit of sensory overload at times.

And there is plenty of space for them to go for a walk if and when needed.

Touch typing is a necessity for this generation.

By the time they are working I believe most of their world will be digital so lay the foundations and give them a good head start now.

I believe learning should be fun and enjoyable.

My kids love the NESSY FINGERS TOUCH TYPING program because it’s so simple, interactive and fun games to play.

Check out Nessy.com because they have lots of great programs to make e-learning fun.

Are you an over thinker too?

If you constantly doubt yourself you might like this book too.

It’s helped me to break out of my comfort zone and try things I wouldn’t usually even consider.

Like flying alone from the U.K. to Australia, with 2 SEN kids under 3.

Crazy right?! YES 🤪

BUT it meant my kids and I got to see my family and make amazing life long memories I will treasure forever, especially with my Dad before he passed away.

It definitely wasn’t easy, and I needed to put lots of preparation in place before hand BUT I was mentally ready for the challenge and it was 1000% worth it.

I discovered I was more capable then I realised, the Qantas staff were super helpful and the kids surprised me with how good they were with a screen in front of them for 17 hours!

Best of all, now I know I’ve done it once so I can do it again 😁

Taking this little one into town is bloody hard work but also makes my heart smile seeing just how observant, excited and clever she is.

2 hours in a shop with her and no pram 😬means I need a 4 hour rest after because she’s like super speedy mini tornado 🌪️

BUT still, I would do it over and over because I know just how important it is for her to experience everyday life first hand to develop her independence, vocabulary and role play.

🤔 Does anyone use real cash these days with their kids?

International Week of the Deaf 🦻🏻🦻🏽🦻🏿

Can you speak a second language?

Sign language is such a brilliant form of communication, but only to those who can understand it.

Each country has its own variation which I know can get confusing BUT I still believe it’s still such a wonderful skill to learn for children and adults.

Knowing some very simple everyday signs like good morning, please, thank you, (and my daughter’s favourite… cake 🍰) is a great way to create a more inclusive community.

Sometimes change can be a little more daunting than we realise.

Great story for all those starting the new school year.
(LINK to the story read aloud in the COMMENTS)

Change is big for parents also as our children grow up, go off to school, becoming more independent and we are left thinking… ok what next???

is something that everybody wants – an attribute of good character that makes us worthy of respect.

And that’s a wrap for the last day of teaching in year 2 this year.

Getting back to routine after holidays is always a challenge but having a clear simple plan in place over breakfast helps heaps 😄

✅2 min breathing
✅Kids affirmations
✅Gratitude list
✅Good book
✅Kindness intention for the day ahead
✅Dance to fave song

P.S. we have still had big emotional meltdowns each morning but these habits have definitely helped us all come out of it quicker rather then get more irritable and watch things escalate like it would in the holidays with all normal routines and boundaries out the window.

Someone is excited about her new Barbie.

I love that it’s necklace has the 3 arrows which is another common representation of Down Syndrome 💙💛 So cute!

Do you ever feel life just gets a bit too overwhelming?

⭐️This book is gold ⭐️

Best book ever for a new Mum or baby shower gift!

Wish I had discovered at the beginning of my parenting journey when I spent most of the time doubting myself and not fully present.

It takes so much time and energy away from just being able to enjoy this precious time with them when they are little.

It’s been such a challenging journey in many ways but it’s just all part of it right, highs and lows.

Even as my children grow up I find those feeling of worry, doubt and mainly the dreaded MUM GUILT keep lingering, and this is one of my favourite books to re-read in that time of need!
