Grimsby Institute UPS

So proud of our UPS groups today at the Cenotaph for our Remembrance day parade.

Our UPS Level 3 learners have joined up with sport students to compete in the first heat of the AOC indoor rowing sprint races, supported by British Rowing 🇬🇧

Their first challange this week was a 100m sprint (timed) with many learners accomplishing this in sub 20 seconds!

Each week learners will compete In series of events to win a place representing TEC partnership at the British Super Sprint at the NEC in Birmingham. So watch this space!

The Royal Marines Reserve are hosting Initial Maritime Reserve Presentations across 10 locations during the month of June. Get booked on via the links below in order to attend. What an amazing 17 days we've had. Topped off by a visit to Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf mountain. Last day by the pool then fly back tonight. The Grimsby Institute

Paddleboarding, trekking, museums and visiting local communities in the forest, we've done it all in the last two days! The highlight was being invited into people's homes to dine and learn about life after the slave trade. We were treated to a traditional breakfast and lunch, made mud bricks and sampled local fruits. We were made so welcome and Tilly was presented with a gift from the matriarch of the community after being blessed and hugged!! The Grimsby Institute

Sport and UPS learners had a brief history lesson on The Brazilian Military followed by some more stunning views at the municipal park in Niteroi

City tour today to Olympic Boulevard, Sao Sebastian cathedral, the Tomorrow museum and the awesome Maracana Stadium. GIFHE Football Performance Programme

Another special day in Rio. First a visit to one of the largest forests in the world, Tijuca National Forest, then to the beautiful Escadaria Selaron steps and the day ended with a breathtaking canoe along Sugar Loaf Mountain.

Amazingly tough day today. Sport and UPS learners completed a section of the Pedra do Telegrafo trail. Despite a 6am start, the heat was intense, but what a view when you reach the top! Ended the day with floodlit football volei on the beach.
