Halloween and Bonfire Night is fast approaching.

This period should be a safe and enjoyable time for everyone.

Parents and carers can help by talking to children and young people about making safe and responsible choices and the dangers consequences around fire and fireworks.

Please encourage children and young people to stay away from fires, fireworks and discarded fireworks, and where possible enjoy fireworks at an organised display. These events are designed to be safe, enjoyable, and managed by experienced professionals.

Fireworks, loud noises and anti-social behaviour can be particularly frightening can also cause distress to pets, livestock, older people and vulnerable members of our communities, so please encourage children to be considerate of others.

Deliberate fires can quickly become dangerous and place additional demand on the fire and rescue service, potentially taking firefighters away from other emergencies.

By working together, we can help everyone enjoy Halloween and Bonfire Night safely while protecting our communities.

Following a fantastic week of Interhouse Football across all year groups, please see our final standings:

🥇 1st – Motivation & Ambition
🥉 3rd – Endeavour
4th – Determination
5th – Resilience

It has been brilliant to see such strong participation throughout the week, with some really competitive games and plenty of house pride on show.

Attendance Focus: Halloween Special!

Students still gain a raffle ticket if they gain 100% attendance for a week (in line with our usual rewards attendance strategy) but they can also swap their raffle ticket for a reward from our ‘Candy Cauldron’ on the last day in our ‘Humberskeleton Café’!

If students gain 100% attendance for three weeks, they gain 5 raffle tickets (5 rewards) from the ‘Candy Cauldron’ – 2 BONUS TICKETS!

Once students hand in their raffle tickets, Team Attendance will also place them into their chosen prize draw (they must state on the back of the ticket which £50 prize they wish for e.g. Love2Shop, GAME, Amazon).

There are several open evenings coming up during the next few weeks with local post-16 providers.

We would advise Year 11 students to investigate all post-16 routes which they may be potentially interested in.

Year 10 students may also benefit from starting to explore post-16 options at this stage, and to visit providers who they may be interested in.

This Thursday is 'Year 7 Settling in Evening'. An opportunity for parents and carers to meet with their child's tutor and continue to work together with us in order to support transition into secondary education.

There will also be other members of staff available to support areas of learning throughout the evening.

Tomorrow, members of Team Humberston will be supporting a fundraising event close to our hearts.

Grimsby Walk of Hope is now in its fourth year and continues to raise much needed funds for Brain Tumour Research. We are looking to exceed the £6,500 achieved last year and are already close to the £4,000 mark!

A team of approximately 100 people will be taking to the streets of Grimsby in pink t-shirts to raise funds and awareness.
