First Steps Nursery

A special Happy Birthday post to our very own Claire who is celebrating her big 40th Birthday today!!
Also a Happy Birthday to Scarlett also who shares her birthday with Claire!

This week in our 0-2s setting, we explored the nursery rhyme "Five Currant Buns." The children were really engaged and loved singing along! To build on their excitement, we went for a lovely walk to the local bakery, where we purchased some tasty currant buns. The children were thrilled to bring them back to nursery and enjoy a tasting session together!❤️💛

The staff have had wonderful makeovers today.. we love our new looks.. 🤩

Who knew that Wheelie Bin numbers could be so versatile! ❤️💛

We have a vision for our mud kitchen area and we are starting to bring it to life!

We love the way these numbers capture the children's attention being so bright & bold. Having these wonderful numbers present in the environment is so beneficial because it helps children develop number awareness naturally through their play.

Some key benefits include:
* Promotes number recognition: Children regularly see numerals and become familiar with their appearance.

* Supports early mathematical development: Frequent exposure helps children build confidence with counting, ordering, and comparing numbers.

* Encourages curiosity and exploration: Children begin to notice numbers around them and ask questions about what they mean.

* Creates opportunities for spontaneous learning: Everyday situations provide chances to count, identify numerals, and solve simple problems.

✨ Did you know that we have an amazing sensory room to support children in our setting who need a quieter environment to learn, regulate, and grow? ✨

We love spending time in here with all of our children, and after having this space for nearly a whole academic year, we have already seen such a positive impact on their wellbeing, confidence, and development.

Our sensory room provides a calm, nurturing space where children can explore their emotions, relax, and feel supported throughout their day.

We are so proud of the difference this environment has made and look forward to using it for many years to come! ♥️💛

A big congratulations to both our settings who have had their recent Environmental Health inspections by the local authority! We’re thrilled to share that we’ve maintained our 5-star rating at both locations! ⭐

A special shout-out to Rachel, our amazing cook at the 2-5's nursery, who manages daily challenges while keeping the kitchen and paperwork maintained to the highest of standards and also to all our baby nursery staff for their dedication and commitment to upholding these standards!

We would like to say a huge congratulations to Scarlett, Millie & Brianie, who have all successfully completed and passed their End Point Assessments for their Early Years Educator Level 3 Apprenticeship this month!

We couldn’t be prouder of them all — a fantastic achievement and a true reflection of all their hard work, dedication, and commitment throughout their apprenticeship journey. Well done, girls! ♥️💛

We had a lovely morning with Nunnys Farm who brought their smaller animals to visit us at nursery today! We said hello to the ducks, guinea pigs, rabbits and chickens! We even got to stroke them! ♥️💛
