Learning Disability Celebration Day! 🎶

Photos from Learning4Life-GY's post 17/06/2026

A few of our learners were happy to attend the Learning Disability Celebration Day event yesterday which took place at Café Aspire. ☕️

This event celebrated people with learning disabilities and their achievements. Alongside information stalls from a range of health and social care services, there were games, retreshments, karaoke, a rattle, and the chance to explore the Linkage Sensory Bus!

Our learners had a brilliant few hours enjoying this event! 🎶

In our Nurture class today we made a terrarium today and Lilly learnt about how a terrarium has a microclimate, and how to prepare and plant plants. We have named the terrarium Tony and Lilly will be looking after it during school time. Lilly said that she had fun with the activity! 🍃

Last term the Health & Care 16-19 yr old students were lucky enough to experience being able to ‘Design, Plan & Deliver’ their own Multisensory activities for a group of children from Mini Explorers Nursery. The children were aged between 3-4 years & the students followed the Learning Outcomes from two specific AQA Level 2 Assessment Criteria to achieve the certificated awards once they had completed all the relevant work contained in their portfolio.

The student’s have been learning about ‘Understanding the Development of a Child up to 5 Years Old, Child Development: Multisensory Play & the Young Child’.
These include topic areas such as learning about the senses & sensory play & how this is important for developing language, problem solving & fine/gross motor skills, including how this type of play can comfort an anxious child. Understanding Child Development includes the Prime & Specific areas of development & the benefits of learning through play. The students have since been able to utilise these skills & the knowledge learnt in other subject areas.
They had fun with the children at the Nursery

Thank you Mini Explorers for having us! 🫧

⭐️Intern of the Month⭐️

Emma and Hayden have both received intern of the month for their exceptional attendance record and their dedication and commitment to their work rotations. Emma has made an excellent start at the Crematorium and is already cementing her place in the team.

Hayden has been welcomed back with open arms to the Parks and Environment team, to train on new equipment and expand his skills.

Keep up the amazing work, you are both smashing it!
