“When I started my business in 2021 I only wanted to work with women. Understanding the challenges we face with hormones, mental health and physical changes which go hand in hand.

I was told not to because it would mean my potential client base would be dramatically limited, but I was committed. I had first-hand experience of the impact diet culture has on women’s lives, how exercise is framed as something to be endured rather than enjoyed and the stigma that weight training is men’s sport.

Fat loss seemed to be the only goal available and no merit was given to the potential longer- term benefits of weight training and sustainable lifestyle improvements. It was something that frustrated me massively, but it also gave me the drive to create a way for women to feel positive about exercise, weight training and, ultimately, themselves.

My approach is firmly anti-diet because I don’t believe diet regimes work in the long term nor do I believe hours and hours of cardio are the answer. Instead, I focus on the achievements – like improving deadlift or increasing overall strength. It’s those things that have a positive impact on physical and mental health. Much like my past self, I have clients with eating disorders, varying forms of depression and some who are in – or have had – therapy. I want my sessions to run as an extension to their recovery and for my clients to leave feeling better than when they walked in.

In my three years as a personal trainer, I’ve witnessed the effect this way of working has. Aside from physical changes, I’ve seen self- esteem levels dramatically increase. This for me is the magic of non-aesthetic focused training.”

So many reasons to train and calories burning is not one of them 🙅🏽‍♀️

You should be training to
👉🏽 Increase lean muscle mass
👉🏽 Increase strength
👉🏽 Increase fitness endurance
👉🏽 Better your mental health
👉🏽 Feel good
👉🏽 Gain confidence

You cannot out-train a bad diet, so stop punishing yourself with your training session by making it all about calories burn! It’s a cycle which often leads to ZERO results 👎🏽

📸 photo 1, 2016 at my biggest, size 16 (not a clue about nutrition or training - not looking after myself at all and mentally in a very low place)
📸Photo 2, 2018 at my smallest, size 0 (still without a clue, malnourished and excessive training led to having an crippling ED which controlled my life- also an extremely low point mentally)
📸Photo 3, today, size 8 (good nutrition, strength training 3-4 times a week, ample rest days and a healthy balance with life and non-restrictive)
