In art this week, Year IV have been sharpening their observation skills through a beautiful watercolour fruit still life study.
The children explored the ‘wet on wet’ and ‘light to dark’ techniques, learning how to use curved lines and shadow to blend colours carefully on a pear. They then designed their own compositions to apply these new skills independently, creating some wonderfully expressive and vibrant artwork!

Step into the story of St Martin’s! ✨📚
To celebrate Local History Month, we’re proud to unveil a special exhibition in our school exploring the rich history of St Martin’s through photographs, artefacts, documents, articles and treasures from our archives.
This afternoon our Infants are taking part in archive workshops, becoming young historians as they uncover stories from the past and discover how our school has grown through the years. This exhibition is designed to spark their curiosity and inspire discoveries across the whole school. We also invite our wider community to celebrate the heritage that makes St Martin’s so special.
We hope pupils, families, and visitors enjoy taking a journey through time with us!

From insightful guided tours to stepping aboard the iconic Ross Tiger, pupils immersed themselves in the stories, people, and industry that put Grimsby on the map.
It was fantastic to see our children so engaged, curious, and proud to learn about the history right on their doorstep. Experiences like these truly bring learning to life!
