Room 2 were so excited for our visit to our lovely local Waltham Windmill today! The visit was very fun and educational, learning about how they make their flour and watching small demonstrations of how the machinery works.

The RAF Waltham rural museum allowed us to immerse ourself in the past, we took a step back in time and observed what life was like for children in the olden days. The children were amazed at how they used record players to listen to music instead of asking Alexa! It was very interesting and the staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable.

The train ride was fabulous and definitely a highlight of the day for many of the children 🚂 We would like to thank all the parent helpers for their assistance, the children were very well behaved. We would also like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers at the Windmill for making our visit so much fun 😊

🔵.. Colour Monster Goes To School.. 🔴

Room 2 have had a lovely week engaging in all activities link to the colour monster, talking about different emotions. How certain situations make us feel, for example when talking about going to primary school.
They have enjoyed cutting and sticking, making their very own story books and ice painting to make their own monsters. The children have liked designing and decorating their own monster masks and experimenting using colours to mix together to make new colours.

🦖 The dinosaurs came to play in Room 1 this week!

Our little palaeontologists had so much fun searching for fossils, exploring dinosaur facts, and taking part in an exciting dino hunt! 🦴🔍

The children also loved our role play Dino Diner, serving up delicious dinosaur treats and using their imaginations in their fantastic pretend play! 🍽️🦕

What a great half term we have had exploring all kinds of animals and learning through lots of exciting activities! 🐘🦁🐧

We are super excited for the last few weeks of summer and all the fun still to come! ☀️✨

‼️Neville Turner Way Under 5's Play Area‼️
We would like to let villagers know that the fenced area will be closed next week on Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th (May) to allow for some improvement works to be carried out.
Unfortunately the timing of these improvements is outside of our control.
The Parish Council will be installing a new seesaw next week, and North East Lincolnshire Council will be closing the park for painting the existing play equipment.
We hope that these works will make the park a better place for children and families in time for the summer weather.
Please help to spread the word 😊

Room 1 have been enjoying the wonderful story The Tiger Who Came to Tea this week! 🐯The children have been fully immersed in our role play café, using real teacups and saucers at snack time. We’ve created lots of tiger-themed crafts, explored stripes and patterns, and even learnt a brand new tiger song! We also visited our local café and shop to look for food for the tiger — the children loved the adventure!

Friday brought two very special celebrations! 🎉

We celebrated Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday by singing Happy Birthday, making cards and letters, and creating special animal biscuits using playdough. The children watched a short video of him and learnt all about how much he loves and helps animals. 🦁🌍

We also explored VE Day, with the children enjoying lots of red, white and blue activities and making their own Union Jack flags to celebrate this important occasion. 🇬🇧

And finally… our very hungry caterpillars are growing fast! 🐛They are now big, fat caterpillars and are almost ready to cocoon. We are so excited to see what happens next week!

🥕🍅 Veggie Fun in Action! 🍆🥦

This week our little chefs have been exploring vegetables through our story of the week, Oliver’s Vegetables!
We talked about all the different colours, textures, and tastes, then we washed our hands ready for chopping our veggies to make a delicious vegetable soup! The Room 2 children loved pouring the water into the soup maker, watching it blend and of course, tasting their creations. Some went back for seconds, however some just wanted a taste as they weren’t too keen! We’re so proud of our little food explorers for trying something new and having fun in the kitchen! 💛

Toddler Room took advantage of the lovely sunny day and visited the Preschool community planter! ☀️🌱
The children were wonderfully behaved and such great helpers.
Keep an eye out for our planter on the high street, opposite the church next time you’re out and about in the village!

What a fabulous first week back after the Easter holidays! The Room 1 children have returned full of energy and are ready to enjoy the summer term. We’ve begun our new theme, Amazing Animals, exploring stories such as The Hungry Caterpillar and Monkey Puzzle. This week, the children have been learning all about baby animals and how butterflies grow from caterpillars.

Our adventures have also included celebrating St George’s Day and Earth Day, where the children enjoyed a variety of hands-on activities. The sunshine has certainly been kind to us too, with chilly mornings turning into beautifully warm afternoons ☀️

🐸 Room 2 🐸

The children have had a wonderful week learning about the lifecycle of a frog, which was inspired by the book of the week ‘Tad’. They have loved being creative and exploring all activities relating to the story. These activities have supported the children’s knowledge and understanding of the world; they have gained the ability to confidently share their knowledge of the correct order of the lifecycle.

The children have enjoyed celebrating ‘Earth Day’, painting and decorating their own globes and learning the importance of recycling and making the world a better place.

We have all enjoyed the beautiful sunshine this week, exploring lots of activities outside that have linked into our busy week of learning. As the warmer weather approaches can we please remember the importance of sun protection by ensuring a suitable hat is provided (and labelled) and also provide your child with an in-date sun cream (the effectiveness of suncream expires after a year!). Hopefully the wonderful weather continues over the weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday ☀️
