Alongside Beverley, our Year 12 Geography students head over to Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire to study Physical Geography and explore further options for their N.E.A fieldwork. 🍃🌟

Our students investigated infiltration rates on the moorland, took samples of vegetation types, studied the carbon content of vegetation and to end the day conducted a river study, collecting various data.

Our Year 12s had a fabulous time in Beverley this week completing Urban Microclimates Fieldwork in preparation for their N.E.A (A Level Coursewok). 🍃

Our students collected data on urban temperatures, the impact of buildings on urban climates, the impact on wind speed of buildings, the impact of heat islands AND they even met some famous dogs... The Golden Girls of Beverley! 🐾

They will now use their new data collection techniques to devise their own fieldwork question and write this up over the next few months.

Two talented Year 12 sisters, Emily and Lauren, have each been awarded £500 music grants from Young Sounds to support their musical journeys. 🎶

Lauren, who has been singing since the age of four, began taking singing seriously at 14 and hopes to pursue a career in musical theatre. She is using her grant to fund singing lessons and purchase sheet music for auditions as she continues to develop her vocal talent.

Emily, who has been playing drums for the past three years, first learned through music lessons at the academy with Dave Cook. After joining the NEL Music Hub, she became part of a band and now plans to use her grant towards an acoustic drum kit so she can perform more gigs.

Congratulations to both sisters on this fantastic achievement and for pursuing their passion for music! 👏
