🗣️ School Council Speeches in Magpies! 🐦

Today, the children in Magpies delivered their School Council speeches to the class. They shared their ideas and explained why they would make great representatives.

It was fantastic to see everyone showing confidence, courage and enthusiasm when speaking in front of their classmates. 🌟

🌟 A Very Special Celebration Assembly! 🌟

A lovely whole-school celebration assembly today! A huge well done to all of our Star Student and Golden Pencil certificate winners this week – we are so proud of you! ⭐✏️

We also said a very special goodbye and good luck to Miss Humberstone, who is leaving her role with us as a Teaching Assistant to begin an exciting new career within the mental health service. 💙

Thank you, Miss Humberstone, for everything you have done for our children and our school. We will miss you lots and wish you every happiness and success in your new adventure! 🌟

🍎🌿 Healthy Bodies & Busy Squirrels! 🐿️🥕
As part of our ‘My World and Me’ theme, Squirrels have been thinking about foods that help to keep our bodies happy and healthy! 💚 We’ve washed apples, painted with fruit and vegetables, sorted apple colours, made Gruffalo Granny’s vegetable stew and collaged our own healthy eating plates. 🍏🥕🥦
We’ve danced and sung along to some ‘5 a day’ songs and watched Get Well Soon, where Dr Ranj helped us learn about what healthy foods do for our bodies! 🎶
Outside, we’ve been exploring our little world too – collecting sycamore leaves and following our own ideas through lots of lovely child-led play, including fetching water and using everything from big sponges to tiny paintbrushes to give our chalkboards a good wash! 💦🖌️

🥕🐿️ Gruffalo Granny’s Stew! 🍎🍂
Squirrels enjoyed the new Gruffalo Granny book so much at storytime this week that we decided to make our very own healthy Gruffalo Granny vegetable stew for our messy play area! 🥣💚
Granny has a very exact recipe – 1 sycamore leaf, 2 pieces of apple, 3 raisins, 4 pieces of carrot and 5 cinnamon sticks! Could we count out the right amount? Could we carefully cut our fruit and vegetables? And how could we turn one carrot stick into four pieces? 🥕🔪

Super work in phonics continues with our RWI Set 1 sounds! This week we’re learning i, n, p, g, o and have even started adding some extra challenges, blending CVC words such as cat, pin and sit! 🌟
We’re doing a fantastic job of using our phonics in literacy too, identifying and writing the initial sounds for the toppings on Mr Bear’s pizza! 🍕🐻
We’re loving our Phonics Fun challenges in Discovery Time – we hope your little ones are enjoying being the teachers at home with their phonics cards too! 🥰📚

Our little Squirrels have been busy mathematicians this week! We’ve enjoyed croissant maths and cupcake maths, practising recognising and writing numerals, counting out objects and showing how many. 🌟
We’ve also explored patterns, number songs and games. We've shared some number stories too with a little help from our lovely reading volunteer, Mrs King. 💛

🐿️💛 Big Feelings & Creative Squirrels! 🎨🎶

This week, Squirrels have been exploring feelings in lots of different ways! 💕

In PSED, we talked about what we can do when feelings get BIG – taking deep breaths, getting our energy out, or asking a grown-up for help. We made little puppets to act out a friendship story and explored different ways to make things better. 👫💛

In Art, we listened to different pieces of music, thought about how they made us feel, and painted along to the sounds! 🎶🖌️

Kingfishers have been exploring how websites work and what happens behind the scenes when we visit a webpage. We learned about the important roles of browsers, servers and webpages, and how information travels across the internet to appear on our screens. 🌍
We also investigated how search engines find, rank and present search results, including the different types of results we might see and the factors that can influence their ranking.💻🔎
