Clyde Fight Academy Clyde Fight Academy is a martial arts school based in Greenock run by Griphouse Black belt Ian Gilmartin. Training is open to anyone, regardless of level.

From day one beginners to Pro MMA fighters. As a new team we will be teaching all our classes with the aim of introducing beginners to the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Our classes will run in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

These two have barely been training, and we’re seriously impressed with how well they’ve taken to it 👏

For us, developing young martial artists isn’t just about teaching technique.

It’s about creating the right culture around them — training partners who help each other, experienced members who encourage beginners, and an environment where you can make mistakes, learn and keep improving.

You don’t need any experience to walk through the door.

You just need to be willing to learn.

A partner progression drill I use in my group PT sessions 🥊

Phase 1: Building a solid stance
Phase 2: Moving while maintaining that stance
Phase 3: Developing good body mechanics from a static position
Phase 4: Adding movement to challenge our footwork and positioning. Whilst tracking a moving target 🎯

For years, I’ve only coached group PT because I believe people learn far better with a partner. Everyone gets to see what’s happening—from the participants to the coach—giving us time to analyse, adjust and improve as we go.

All you need is a pair of gloves and a training partner 👊
