This week, P4/5 have been working with maths equipment to help them visualise how to find all the different combinations of colours in patterns. We worked out that keeping some counters in the same position and only changing one at a time meant that we could find all of the combinations and avoid repeating the same pattern twice.
We also started to look at 2D and 3D shapes and used circles in a fun art lesson based on Kandinsky's famous painting to create Autumn trees. There was some fantastic creativity on display and the final pictures were amazing!

We have been very busy in P3/4. The children enjoyed using our numicon to add numbers within 20, some little mathematicians were able to add numbers even higher than this! We worked hard on our grammar and punctuation, some boys and girls were writing sentences and adding important capital letters and full stops. Our current class novel is The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, we used just2easy to create some lovely pictures of our nocturnal friends. Keep up the super work everyone! What an amazing start to our year 🙂

Nursery have had a very busy and exciting week as we made a start on our first topic, ‘All About Me’!

The children have been busy exploring their new classroom, getting to know their new friends/teachers and settling into our nursery routines. They have also enjoyed getting creative by painting and drawing their very own self-portraits! 🎨🖌️

This week P4/5 have been learning about place value!
We played a game where we had a digit each and had to stand in hoops to make different numbers. It was a race to see which team could make the numbers first.
We discussed how the position of a digit changed its value and also how important a place holder zero is.
We had a lot of fun taking our numeracy lesson outside!

P4/5 had a brilliant time learning how to be civil engineers this week during a STEM bridge building activity in Carrickfergus Town Hall!
We learned what civil engineers do and how important their work is in our communities.
It was fantastic to see the focus and concentration by everyone, and it was clear there are lots of potential civil engineers in P4/5!
