Been a busy few weeks on the latest horizon project, and this one meets a lot of what we set out to achieve.
One - Learning to Drive
A driving simulator will help learners and members, get the basics of driving a car in preparation for the real thing.
Two - Up-cycling
The sheet wood and gaming chair were donated. Carpet and timber was out of a skip. The Xbox was bought with donated dvds (Thank you everyone that has and keeps donating dvds) exchanged at CEX (Thank you CEX for accepting the 1000s of dvds we bought to you).
Three - Practical Functional Skills
Leaners where given a budget of £200 for the simulator, and the more we could save in some areas we could spend in others.
The TV, steering wheel set and lights where the only costs Thank you to Facebook market place the learners where able to buy good quality at low prices and come in at a total budget of £205.
Communication skills in the planning and throughout the whole project. Teamwork skills that have been learned to work across groups and to meet the 6 week deadline. Completed in 4 weeks, well done team 👍
Four - History of Yarmouth
As part or our history of Great Yarmouth, we decided on the seafront and arcades as our theme. As part of this the learners have designated a small area, for the "Horizon History Zone" The next part of the project is the "Yarmouth History Wall"

Horizon hopes to remove some of the barriers in a safe, supportive, accepting space. This is the journey from abandoned safe to gym. More Information, classes and events to be added soon. Horizon is having a fundraiser to have a Community Defibrillator attached to the front of our building. This will not only protect the members of horizon, but will be accessible to the community 24hrs a day 365 days of the year. It will be located at Hall Quay. We have a donation page on the link below, have spare change pots located in all our friends of horizon and will be doing sponsors and activities with our learners, clubs and supporters. Time to get in the garden! A project in partnership this year with the Hope group. Well done, team all ready for spring
This half-term project was about up-cycling and gaming. We looked for items to transform with the theme being gaming and appealing to young people. We used old bathroom cabinets, a skipped bookcase, a damaged desk, off cuts of wood, broken lamp as well as recycled materials such Christmas lights, and old posters.
