Great Ouseburn Community Primary School

Please don’t forget to get your applications in! You MUST do this even if you have a place in our nursery.
It is NOT first come, first served, but if we are your preferred choice of school, why not get your application in now? 💙

Primary school admissions for September 2027 are open.

Parents and carers of children born between 1 September 2022 and 31 August 2023 can apply for their school places now.

You still have to apply for a school place if your child is attending a nursery or has a sibling within the primary school you want them to go to.

Please take our home to school travel policy into account when making school choices.

As well as the cones disappearing, someone has accessed the school playground, particularly the PE sheds, over the weekend. No major damage or theft as far as we can see. If anyone ever needs to borrow stuff over the weekend, please ask! We are happy to help. ❤️

Our traffic cones have disappeared! We use these to keep the area opposite school clear so children can cross safety.
Has anyone seen them? 🙏🏻

We undoubtedly have the prettiest school front door in the whole of North Yorkshire, but it needs a little bit of TLC.
Job 1 - is there a builder/handman/skilled DIYer, who could take out and repoint round the door? There are some quite big gaps and it needs doing properly!
Job 2 - it could do with a fresh paint job, but I think would need scraping first. Does anyone know who could do this?
If anyone could quote for either or both jobs, please get in contact on here or via [email protected] 💙

Bike repairs underway!

IMPORANT NEWS - FREE BIKE REPAIRS!
As you will know, we were delighted to be successful in a bid to the Active Travel Fund, supported by David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire and funded by York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority.
We have assembled three bike stores and filled two of them with balance bikes and scooters for our youngest children. The big bike store gives safe, secure, dry storage for children’s bikes (and parents) to help support cycling to school.
ALSO… The Mayor has funded four sternly bike maintenance sessions with our friends Spokey Dokey Bikes. The first of these is Saturday 12th and 9am on the school playground. ANYONE can bring their bikes for a check over and free repair. We really want whole families to have safe, working bikes. Just turn up and Claire and Rob will fix them!
Huge thanks of course to our Mayor, David Skaith for funding all this. 💙

What an amazing day! SO many parents, pupils and ex-pupils in school getting things looking amazing in school! Painting, varnishing, fencing, weeding, moving stones, laying a patio, moving shelters, jet-washing, planting…. such an upgrade to our amazing playground, field and EYFS area. Thank you SO much to everyone who came to help 😍
