🐣🐰 Happy Easter! 🐰🐣

To mark the end of Spring Term, our Larks, Wrens, Robins and Swallows went to The Lee Old Church for an Easter service led by Reverend Chris with their grownups! 🪺

First the children took part in an Easter bonnet parade, showing their grownups their Easter crowns they’d made in class, followed by some fabulous singing of the Easter songs they’d been practising with their teachers 🐣

Our Swallows did a fantastic job reading the story of the resurrection of Christ to all who attended ❤️

🐶🐰 Vet Visit! 🐰🐶

To continue with our theme of ‘people who help us’, Katie the mobile vet came to visit nursery and reception!

She talked to us about how she finds out what might be wrong with a pet and some of the things she does to help them get better and showed us her vet van! The children then really enjoyed pretending to treat the toy pets.

🚗🔧 Cars old and new! 🔧🚗

Last week the theme of the week for our Larks and Wrens was cars! The children learnt about what the different parts of cars are called and what they do.

They had the opportunity to have a look at an old car (which made it to school with the help of the AA 😅), and a newer electric car and had a lot of fun exploring! They also did a great job finding similarities and differences between the two.

🎶🎻Reception and ks1 became violinists for the day! 🎻🎶

Following a visit from the New Mozart Orchestra, reception year 1 and 2 had the opportunity to try playing the violin with the help of musicians from the Bucks Music Trust. They all really enjoyed it, perhaps we have some future maestro’s on our hands! 😄

🎶🎻 An orchestra came to visit! 🎻🎶

This week the New Mozart Orchestra came to visit Lee Common to tell us a story and play us some music. The children had great fun learning about the different instruments and the sounds they make, and even had a go at playing them themselves!😄

The children had been practising singing ‘London bridge is falling down’ in class in preparation for the orchestra’s visit and they did a fantastic job! Well done everyone ❤️

✝️👑Three Kings Day 👑✝️

✝️ During assembly, the children learned about the Christian celebration of Epiphany, sometimes known as 'Three Kings Day'. ✝️

Some people like to celebrate Epiphany by making King Bread or King Cake which resembles a crown and often has small dolls inside to represent baby Jesus. 👑

The children worked together in small groups to create their own Epiphany crowns out of Lego, Duplo and magnets! 😊

🎨📐Learning in 3D!📐🎨

This week key stage 1 made 3D sculptures out of coloured paper. 🔷They used their imaginations to think up what shapes they wanted to make, cut out the coloured paper, and stuck their creations on black card for a contrast effect. They also experimented with the different shapes and patterns they could make by folding, twisting, cutting and sticking. Well done for your creativity KS1! 💕
