We are feeling very festive today in Preschool with loose parts play doh and present wrapping. Both of these activities have been set up to help strengthen our fine motor skills in preparation for strong pen control and writing skills later on ๐๐๐พ๐๐ผ
Children do say the funniest things!
Yesterday during our last practice before our nativity Mary asked "Can I have a real baby from baby room to put up my dress? They will be a better Jesus than a doll, and I do love real babies!" ..... Ermmmm no๐๐
When playing sleepy giants I told the children it was my turn and stood up to sit in the middle of the circle...... one of my little darlings said "Move back everyone Linsey will need a bigger circle" ..... thanks for that ! ๐ณ๐ณ
When coming down stairs from washing our hands some of the children were trying to rush. I explained to them that we come down the stairs slowly and always hold on tight so that we don't fall, when one of them kindly pointed out "You should have done that too then you wouldn't have broken your foot and been on crutches, were you being silly on the stairs?"..... Very true Preschool..... I wish I had been holding on! ๐๐
You are all so funny I love you so much. If your little one has come out with something recently that has made you giggle please let us know in the comments below ๐๐๐ค

There have been many cases of Strep A lately, luckily none of our children have been affected, but as it can turn into a serious illness if your children display any of these symptoms please seek medical advice xx
Why not have a go at home?? ๐๐๐๐
Preschool are getting busy in the messy room exploring the loose parts play doh and the Christmassy themed water tray. Children are great at learning from each other, as soon as one of our friends created Rudolph everyone else had a try too. Sharing ideas is a great way to test out new ways of using items ๐๐๐
We are enjoying some Christmas themed yoga this morning. As we are lieing in reflection at the end of the session we use this time to have a think about all that we are grateful for at this special time of year ๐
A little rain doesnโt stop us from enjoying the outdoors! We have been practicing our climbing and balancing skills while strengthening our bodies. We have also been working on our team work by helping each other on the balance beams and pushing each other on the swings ๐ฅฐ
Loose Parts Christmas Trees ๐๐๐
The beauty of loose parts play is that children can be creative over and over again, finding all different ways to use the items, this makes the play last a lot longer than when we stick the parts down. Great job everyone!
This week in Butterflies we are extending on one of our childrenโs interests in all things Disney!
We have built Elsaโs castle from ice cubesโฆ
Enjoyed a spot of drama with our โWoodyโs Coming!โ gameโฆ.
Explored Mowanโs sensory beach sceneโฆ

We would like to say a big thank you to one of our childrenโs families today for coming in and teaching us all about the meaning of Thanksgiving. We enjoyed a story, adding to our gratitude turkeys and tasting some homemade pumpkin bars which were delicious! It is lots of fun learning about different traditions, if you would like to come in and share your families traditions please speak to your childโs key worker ๐ฅฐ
We are very busy this afternoon in our outside classroom planting all the bulbs from the Interest Sack, thank you so much for bringing them in to share ๐บ๐ธ๐น๐ผ
Our babies have a very cute Billy Goats Gruff tray to explore today as it is one of our babies favourite stories. We will use the puppets to help give visual clues when reading with them ๐ณ๐๐๐๐ณ
Preschool have had lots of fun today exploring one of our childrenโs interest sack. They have filled it with all sorts of gardening equipment as they love to spend time looking after their own garden with their Granny. This is special time that they spend together and they have told us that it gives them happy memories when they see pretty flowers ๐บ How cute!
This is why loose parts play is so important....because it allows the imagination to run wild ๐คบ๐๐ฃโโ๏ธ๐ธโท
Our baby room is all set up ready for them to explore their favourite books on Monday morning ๐ฅฐ
Preschool have enjoyed making their own chilli tacos this afternoon, they were a big hit with the whole nursery and they have asked for them to be added to our menu! Well done everyone ๐ฎ๐

Lisa has prepared us some tasty chicken burgers for lunch today with some salad on the side ๐๐๐ Yum Yum!!
This morning Preschool have been learning how to use a world map to locate where Frida Kahol lived. We have been learning which countries are islands and why, and how far away different countries are from England.
The children were also very interested in learning where some of their families come from who arenโt English. We have families from America, Hungry and Iraq. We found the Ukraine ๐บ๐ฆ too which is where our new teacher is originally from.
After this we explored Frida Kaholโs Art Journal and had a try at guessing what the art work means and what she is trying to tell us through her marks and colours ๐จ
*****REMINDER*****
As it is Children In Need next week we are inviting the children to come in dressed in spots or pjs or anything colourful! There will be a donation pot in the porch ๐
๐ง ๐จ๐๐งฉOur Planning Next Weekโฆ..
๐ปAs the Preschool children have found learning about Frida Kahlo really interesting this week we will extend on this next week. We will be looking into Mexican culture and creating a traditional dish for our lunch ๐ฅ. We will explore one of her Art Journals to learn more about her life and explore her unique style of clothing and jewellery.
๐ฆOur butterflies will be having fun with everything Children In Need related! From freeing Pudsy from blocks of ice to creating their own Pudsy headbands.
๐Our Caterpillars will be getting messy exploring their topic of Bubbles! All of our babies love bubbles and we will have a Fun Time Bath Time tuff spot set up full of rubber ducks, silly soap and the bubble machine ๐
If your child has an interest that they would like to explore please let us know!
The whole nursery have visited St Johnโs Church today to pay our respects to all of the fallen and all of the serving. We thank you ๐
This afternoon Preschool are adding to their Art Gallery Wall in our Messy Play Room. We have already created a Picasso, Po***ck, and Matisse, so today we looked into Frida Khalo.
We learnt about her early life of wanting to be a doctor in her home country of Mexico but that her dreams were dashed in a terrible bus accident on her way to school.
Whilst in a full body cast and bed bound her father (a painter himself) gave Frida her first set of canvases and paints to help cheer her up.
Frida found she loved painting so much that in just a few short years became and international selling Artist.
She painted mostly self portraits to show different events in her life.
The children loved the painting of her surrounded by leaves with a monkey perched on her shoulder so we decided to recreate this one.
I must say I am very impressed with the end result ๐๐จ
Our Butterflies are spending their morning learning their colours and improving their fine motor skills with this poppy themed tuff tray ๐
Lest We Forget is a lovely story to share with your little one this week. It is about a Grandpa talking to his Grandson about days he loves to remember and other days that he would prefer to forget. Have a talk afterwards about days you have shared together that you like to remember, and maybe some that you don't ๐งก

As one of our babies love to fix things with our tools kit we have set up a Bob the Builder tray for them ready for Monday morning ๐ง
We are so lucky to have such a beautiful park right on our door step to test out our climbing skills ๐
The children have enjoyed making some traditional chocolate/toffee apples as it is nearly Bonfire Night. We have been teaching the children about fire safety and what to do in case of an accident ๐๐๐
We were all super excited today to join in with Jo from Kidslingo for our first Spanish session. I must say preschool you all did a fabulous job! It was lots of fun, we especially enjoyed the dancing ๐
As one of our preschoolers have filled the Interest Sack with trains so we took a little walk to the station to see if we could spot a few. The children were interested in the signs and kept pointing out the letters they spotted from their names ๐
Our babies are using their tuff tray to explore different textures, jelly numbers and soft flour, and to begin to make simple shapes using their fingers ๐จ
