🚑 🚑 🚑 🚔 🚓 👮‍♂️ 🚨 🚔
We celebrated Emergency Services Day Today, representatives from the North West Ambulance Service and a Police Community Support Officer visited our nursery. The children had the opportunity to explore the interior of an ambulance, though they were initially quite nervous. Since no one wished to lie on the stretcher, the children practiced applying a bandage to Spiderman's arm instead. We also observed our heartbeats and oxygen levels on the medical equipment and were even able to sit in the front cab with the lights flashing. Following this, we met with the police, sat inside their patrol car, and watched the blue lights. The officer kindly explained that their role is to keep us safe. They joined us in the nursery to talk, allowed us to examine a recording device that was powered off, and let us listen to their radios. They reiterated that their mission is to keep us safe and encouraged us to wave if we see them while out and about in Great Harwood

As a thank you for all their hard work the children gave them a box of chocolates 🍫 🍫

🎓💛 Our Little Preschool Leavers — First Day at Big School! 💛🎓

And just like that… our little preschoolers have taken their first big steps into a brand-new adventure! 🥹✨

It feels like only yesterday they walked through our doors with tiny hands, little backpacks and sometimes a few nervous tears. Today, we watched them walk proudly into their new schools — a little taller, a little braver, and ready to spread their wings. 🐦💫

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. You have grown, learned, laughed, made friendships and filled our days with so many precious memories. ❤️

As you begin this exciting new chapter, always remember how special you are and how much you are loved. We may miss your little faces, your giggles and your curious questions, but we will always be cheering you on from the sidelines. 🌟

As we come to the end of a busy summer, we want to take a moment to recognise and celebrate our incredible team. 💛

Each month we celebrate a member of the team in our Bairdie Superstar of the month, however the team have worked so hard throughout the summer, not only keeping everything running smoothly, but also listening to the valuable feedback shared through our Parent Questionnaire and Preschool Council.

It’s wonderful to see ideas, suggestions and feedback being turned into positive changes that help make our preschool even better for our children and families. 🌱✨

With heartfelt thanks ❤️

As another nursery year comes to an end, we find ourselves feeling incredibly proud, but also a little emotional, as we say goodbye to some very special children and their families. Some that we have had for a few months to the others that we have had for over 4 years 😞

✨️ To all of our parents, thank you for choosing Early Bairds Nursery and for trusting us with something so precious — your children. It is a privilege that we never take for granted. ✨️

💚 Over the years, we have had the joy of watching your little ones grow from tiny babies and toddlers into confident, kind and independent children, ready to take their next big step into school. We have shared their first friendships, first words, big achievements, little challenges, laughter, cuddles and countless special moments along the way. 💚

✨️ Thank you for allowing us to be part of those memories and for placing your trust in our team. We hope that when you look back on your child's time at Early Bairds, you remember it as a place where they were loved, cared for, encouraged and truly celebrated for who they are. ✨️

📸 Happy World Photography Day! 📸🖤🤍

Today we’ve been celebrating the wonderful world of photography and discovering how powerful a simple black and white image can be! 🥰📷

👶🖤 Our babies have been exploring black and white pictures, noticing strong contrasts, patterns, shapes and familiar images. High-contrast experiences can be especially engaging for babies, supporting visual attention, observation and their developing awareness of the world around them. 👀✨

Through looking, reaching, pointing and exploring, our babies are developing early communication, attention, visual awareness and coordination — all through meaningful, playful experiences! 🌱

📸✨ Our practitioners also created moments of awe and wonder by introducing the children to a professional camera! The children were fascinated by this special piece of equipment and loved having the opportunity to explore how photographs are captured. 📷🤩

Our little photographers had the exciting opportunity to capture moments from their own nursery day, giving them a different perspective of their environment and helping them to see their familiar surroundings in a new and exciting way. 🌟

From choosing what to photograph to looking through the camera and capturing special moments, the experience encouraged curiosity, confidence, communication and a real sense of ownership over their learning. 🥰📸

🎨🖼️ Our toddlers and preschool children then took their creativity a step further by creating their very own photo frames! They explored a variety of media and materials, making choices about textures, shapes, colours and how they wanted to decorate their frames.

This wonderful experience supported:
🖐️ Fine motor development through handling, sticking and placing materials
🧠 Problem-solving, decision-making and concentration
💬 Communication and language as children talked about their ideas
🎨 Creativity, imagination and self-expression
🤝 Independence, confidence and sharing ideas

🦎 Happy Lizard Day! 🦎

Today we’ve been celebrating these fascinating little creatures while supporting lots of learning through play! 🌿🔍

Our lizard-themed activities help children develop key EYFS skills, including:

👀 Understanding the world – exploring reptiles, habitats and the natural world 🌎
🗣️ Communication & language – learning new vocabulary and talking about what we notice 💬
🔢 Mathematics – counting, comparing sizes and recognising patterns 🔢

🌞🌑 What a wonderful day of learning about the solar eclipse! 🌑🌞

Our babies and toddlers enjoyed creating their very own keepsake paintings 🎨🖌️ — a special way to remember just how little they were on such a memorable day in history! 💕✨

Our preschool children became little scientists 🔭🌎 as they learnt what a solar eclipse is and then applied their new knowledge by creating their very own model solar eclipses! 🌞🌑🌍 Through this hands-on experience, the children were developing their physical skills, communication and language, and knowledge of the world, whilst exploring different media and materials. 🗣️🤲🎨

This wonderful experience supported learning across the EYFS, including:
🔗 Communication and Language — listening, understanding, learning new vocabulary and talking about their ideas.
🔗 Physical Development — developing control, coordination and fine motor skills through creating and manipulating materials.
🔗 Understanding the World — exploring the world around them, asking questions and developing an understanding of natural phenomena.
🔗 Expressive Arts and Design — exploring and using a range of media and materials to represent their ideas and experiences.
